Chip and auto box
« on: 29 October 2017, 19:23:09 »

Could anyone please point me in the correct direction for a performance chip, and software upgrade for my auto box on my 2003 3.2 mv6. Thanks Rae.

Auto Box update will be with a Tech 2 Tool, Admins on here have access with the Tool.

There are no Performance Chips for the 3.2, it will require a ECU Re Map if you want to go down that route.

Thanks for that, any idea how much for the remap?

250 - 400 quid, but theres not many mappers around that specialize on the 3.2, some may just use off the shelf maps but still charge the money.

If Im honest just getting the Map done on its own isnt that cost effective, all depends what your after, a standard Re Map should see better MPG, your not going to tons of extra power out of the thing, if it is a tad more power your after then then you need to start stripping the Tree Hugging elements from the Map, and improve the exhaust and airtake breathing at the same time, thats probably the best its going to get for the budget.

One of my Omegas I run is a late 3.2 Manual Ex Police, (LPG'd for economy), its been ReMapped, has a sealed K&N Cold Air Feed, and a Stainless Steel Performance cat back Exhaust System, I can honestly say its quiet nippy, probably the quickest Omega Ive ever driven (Omega with the original Engines anyway), and Ive driven a few now.  ;)

Righto, mine is LPG too, I was looking for more power but looks like I'll just do the breathing mods.
I also own an Evo2 with later internals running 400 bhp + so I'm ok for speed really,  but the gear change  on this mv6 is up and down like a prozzies knickers.

Might be worth seeing if you can get it on a Tech2 and see if the gearbox firmware is the latest revision, but received wisdom is that the 3.2 never did get quite as refined as the 3.0 and it's a bit of a case of TATDS*

(Mine used to annoy me in the same vein - it could never quite decide to be in the right gear and always seemed to be a gear too high or a gear too low)

If your just doing the Filter only dont expect too much, a few BHP on its own, a replacement Panel K&N or Piper will work well, I tend to run mine dry (No Oil) but not recommended if you drive a lot off the beaten track, dusty or sandy areas.

As for the Gearbox cant help there, as all mine do as there told with the aid of a third pedal.  :)
