Well I have had one of those days. where everything that can go wrong will. Got up early this morning, sun was shining so I decided I would change my cam sensor on my 2.2. I went to get my ratchet and couldn't find it where it should be, mangaged to sort another one. Went to get the cam cover off, aux belt came off great, the one bolt at the bottom left corner decided it was going to put up a fight. Finally mangaged to convince it to come out. Sorted out the spark plug cover no problem. Undid sensor connector plug and undid the bolt holding sensor inplace without any problems. Came to get the sensor out, it didn't want to come out of the hole without a fight, finally it came out. Put the new one in place, went to bolt it up. You can guess what happened next, the bolt decided to drop out of the socket, even though I had packed the socket so the bolt would not come out, even checked it wouldn't before putting it anywhere near the car. Spent 2 hours looking all around the timing belt, sprockets and crank pulley. Still didn't find it. Turned engine over using a spanner on Crank pulley to check I hadn't dropped somewhere it shouldn't, no nasty noises and engine turned fine. Got intouch with local Vauxhall, ended up paying £7 for 5 new bolts because cannot just buy 1. Getting them tommorow. So if anyone can suggest some other places the bolt might of gone, or if they have had the same experience as me it going missing, let me know how it all turned out.
The annoying thing is that I have done the camshaft cover on the wifes 2ltr without any problems whatsoever, do some work on mine and it goes wrong. I think the car is possesed.
Thanks for taking the time to read this.
