What a surprise, not.
« on: 17 November 2017, 09:27:21 »

Reading on Beeb ceefax this morning, (sorry no linky) that the number of cars with no VED has tripled since the abolition of the paper tax disc. Blimey, who would have thought it!  ::)  :D

Yep....the ridiculous idea of removing the tax disc was probably thought up by some trendy focus group with an average age of 17 and three quarters.

I still use a disc. A quick glance and I can tell when my tax is up. It's simple and it works better than the system we have now.

I guess they figured out that we can't afford traffic cops to check them, so might as well save to cost of printing the discs too. ::)

Doesn't ANPR auto dish out tickets? If it doesn't it should. damn sight cheaper than employing people. Just move one vehicle around . OR put it on fuel........

I think they have to stop you when actually driving the vehicle, which is daft.

IMHO, if an untaxed / uninsured vehicle is picked up on an ANPR camera, it should trigger an automatic NIP to the registered keeper. It works for speeding, why not for other motoring offences that are even more clear-cut? Of course, Royal Mail would make a fortune.

I suspect, though, that most vehicles being driven illegally aren't even registered to the correct person, and nobody cares, so it'll just continue. ::)

The things next door have been driving cars around for months if not years without tax insurance or mot. and they like to deal certain substances and threaten violence and destroy your property if the mood takes them. like I've said before they're just SCUM.

Yes it does, or they use info from the roadside camera vans.

One of our company courtesy cars was mistakenly deflected and scorned last month. Company got a letter looking for about £130 or so in vel duty.....

And that system is being extended all the time, so it will become ever more difficult for those driving illegally without the essential elements in place to do so.

The only problem is that there are not enough Traffic police officers out there to stop them and do the business.  Letters are sent when the APR cameras activate on a illegal motoring situation, but if the scum involved do what a lot of them do, not register their vehicle to their address....................!!!!

Once more, we can shout and scream about the scum getting away with it, but until we as a society put our hands in our pockets to pay for a great increase in the number of police officers, then that scum will get away with it, not forever as they will eventually get caught, but in the short term they may well do >:(

The police retreated from the streets long before any "savage Tory cuts". Its been happening slowly but surely since the 70,s.
Firstly they stopped walking and drove cars instead, then they had too much paperwork to do, then the onset of technology made it pointless for them to be out patrolling the roads......
And so it will continue.
They seem to have plenty of manpower though to attend festivals wearing brightly coloured nail polish on and stilletoe heel shoes, presumably to promote equality and diversity.  ::)
The people in charge of policing seem have an agenda which is little to do with apprehending criminals.
Probably due to being educated to degree level at our universities left wing brain washing centres.

A very neat assessment of the situation, Albs!
Also, they have finally realised that the "plastic pigs" are ineffectual, too, and are disbanding them.
