Can I offer my Roadster for use in doing a starter motor replacement/overhaul?  ::)

I've yet to even see it .....  ;)

I find the Smart a really odd little car to work on (not just cos they are weird) but the easy jobs are hard (like front coil spring... why make the knuckle sit half way up the shock body so I have to remove everything to get it knocked down) yet the bigger jobs I've found have been simples (driveshaft oil seal...looked a right git but two shocker bolts and four for that odd support member, a bit of wiggling and it was out).

That said I've removed the dash in one just to get to drivers speaker that had blown.... why couldn't "Smart" put in a plastic speaker cover that pops out to reveal the speaker???? So annoyed I was with that job and the customer for having the audacity to bring the sh*t box to me I took it upon myself to purposely swap the clock and rev counter dials round to be of annoyance  ;D

Swapping a water pump isn't the most straight forward of jobs either (Roadster ... not Fortwo) 6 or 7 M6 bolts  but you need to lever the engine up & down slightly to get to some of them.
As for a spark plug change! 3 are a piece of p*** to get to, the other 3 needs all the rear panels removing  ???

;D ;D ;D precisely my point Andy. The simple stuff is difficult!

I remember doing those plugs and I broke two ignition wires as well at the same time. That was a bad day. I blame the fact that they'd never come off as other garages probably had never done them as they knew they were difficult! I'd never blame my ham fisted approach at all  :-\ :-\ ;D ;D

Having just spent 2 hours crammed in the front cockpit of a Yak52 changing an air valve(4 screws, 3 air pipes and a knob) and another 15minutes at the bench swapping the fittings over, I think you're all a bunch of whingers ;D
