« on: 05 January 2018, 10:55:23 »

We are just going through a process of getting quotes to deliver an item back to the UK.(They sent the wrong one...)

So go on the website and fill in dimensions, weight is 43kg. price is £103 plus Vat.

then the options

get a signature. £1.0
guaranteed delivery £9.0   say what?  :o :o Is that opposed to might deliver or might not?

Whatever happened to old fashioned delivery that just ........err delivered.

How about the bring it back on easyJet as two peoples checked luggage and 3 kilos extra... That'll be £50 and done... You can then deliver it Yours safe in the knowledge that a) it is delivered, and b) that you've paid a fair price :)

Too much hassle. Better by courier.

that`s a heavy old shipment , not exactly portable  :)
I know the volume of the object comes into play to calculate the cost for air shipments.
it`s called dimensional weight , we had to calculate all this when we shipped test equipment  to one of our sister companies in the Rockwell group.
In the end DPD worked out the most cost effective, they utilise other companies as partners to ship worldwide. As it turned out UPS in the US was the final carrier.
