best place to buy a 2001 2.2 autobox filter and gaskets
« on: 06 January 2018, 14:22:11 »

Can anyone suggest the best place to buy, the filter and gaskets for a 2.2 Automatic gearbox? After replacing cam and Crankshaft sensors, my car seems OK at the moment with no error codes or gear changes I was having before. It even went through the MOT, with just a advisory on the back Brake pipes corroded, which I will see if I can cleanup if not will replace always seem to have this advisory on all omegas I have had. Anyway back to the question, I am going to get the filter and Oil checked, just for piece of mind, but cannot find the parts for a 2.2, will the gasket and filter for 2.0ltr from any age fit a 2001 2.216v?

Thanks in advance for any help.

See Parts for Sale stickies, for JPAT.

Or clean filter when its out, and use instant gasket for sumps.

Your choice, whatever you're most comfortable with :)

Thank you for your quick reply. Is there any particular gasket sealer recommended?

I recall Mr DTM once recommending this?

Although being oil I guess black RTV is ok?

Either way needs to be used sparingly

Wash filter out with paraffin, and re-seal with a decent, sealer/gasket of your choice.

I imagine it's an Asin Warner AR25 in which case be very careful with the sump screws. They have a torque of only 12Nm/9lbf. The screws need to be evenly tightened or you risk warping the sump. The screws have locking compound on them and are very easy to cross thread in the autobox casing. If needs be use finger control and a clean screw to clear out any crud in the casing threads. Don't even consider using a tap. Do consider renewing the locking compound if you can't get new GM screws.

Also the sump plug is 1/2"AF, not 13mm as you might expect. Make sure you have a good flat sided socket and a new seal for the plug. Last one I did had a copper washer. Same size that used to be used on the engine sump plug.

I've always used a new oil pan gasket. However they're thin fragile black c**p. The preceding Carton and Senator autobox gaskets were much better.

Good luck.

Thanks for the reply Dan552, do you happen to know the part Numbers for the filter and gaskets?

Hummm at 162k I really should consider a fluid change on the 3.2 autobox. Might order these before parts are no longer available.
