As I have a caravan occupying my driveway, I park my car on the front lawn. With the amoung of rain that we have been having lately, it's more mud than grass now and the car has a tendency to slide back towards the road.
Very disconcerting.
Suggestions please as to how to overcome this problem. I cannot afford to have it block paved or concreted over, and I suspect that paving slabs on a somewhat uneven surface will crack - yes?

Agreed STEMO, they put some down between our local hospital and a carpark, approx 100 yards. Now a total mess and most people now walk on the grass so now it,s all a total quagmire.  ;D

Possible solutions:

1. Stop being a weekend gypsy by setting fire to the tin tent, then you can park your car back where cars belong on the drive. :y :y :y
2. Sell the car, set fire to the caravan as you can't tow it, use your pushbike for all journeys and the grass will then grow back and look as good as new. :y :y :y
3. Keep the caravan, keep the car, but use your pushbike for all journeys, so the lawn doesn't turn into mud. :y :y :y

There you go, setup a binding poll referendum on here and we will all vote for what will be in your best interests 2. :P :P :P ;D ;D ;D

 would it not be beter to donate the caravan to Clarckson, Hammond and May? We then all get to see the amusing end results, foreever if it gets on to Dave :) :D ;D ::)

those grids are similar to the ones i used when i converted the front garden into a 2 car drive a couple of years ago, filled with gravel, they work very well

those grid systems do work but it is absolutely critical to use the right sub base and work out drainage levels.  Neighbour of mine has the stuff set on non draining sub base in a clay field where it was lower than the surrounding field.  you can guess the result.

Thanks for that, Jonathan. My lawn is turf laid on Essex clay, no specific drainage allowed for, so it looks like I have a problem!
Maybe I should park on the road until I have saved enough pennies to get it block paved or concreted?  :(

As the caravan moves less often than the car why not swap them around,kill the grass then a membrane and a couple of tons of chippings will stop grass coming back :y

I did consider that, Henry, but I np longer have a towbar and no way could I move it by hand, even with several strong blokes and my lawn slopes and is now slippery too!
If I did the lottery I could use my winnings to concrete it over buy a country mansion.....
