I thought Audi evolved from Auto Union.
Yeah DKW auto Union 1000....that's what it is.

It was iirc the merger of Auto Union,DKW,Horch and Wanderer that became Audi.

 Seems I was partially right. ;)

I remember seeing film footage of those Auto Union racing cars where the driver was sat well forward ahead of the long rear deck.Think they had a 16cyl engine? thought they looked amazing :y

I remember an article 10-15 years ago, maybe more, on the restoration of one of those Auto Union V16s. Balls of tungsten carbide were required for the test drive, apparently. ;D

They're driving one of these around on Antiques Road Trip this week. I really like the old thing, something different.
