Remove sound insulation
« on: 29 April 2018, 14:01:22 »

Hi. Im stripping out the interior in a 94 omega sedan to get it ready for som rust welding next week. Got all the seats/carpets/centre console out and the sound insulation mats in the floor except the front foam mats. Seems to me that this front foam insulation mat is one big piece from a pillar to a pillar and from just in front of the front seats to a good way up the bulkhead behind the dash. What is the best approach to remove this mat? Seems to me that to Get it out in one piece requires the dash and much of the wiring loom to be removed. Leaning towards just cutting the mat up in removable pieces.
Any experiences about this?

Slice it along the top corner of the tunnel... Should be clipped to the bulkhead just above the carpet under the dash :y

Cut carefully as there's alot of wiring that runs across the floor from A post to A post ;)
