Rear Brake calipers
« on: 07 May 2018, 19:47:48 »

So, I need a replacement caliper for the drivers side rear.  When my neigbour stripped down the caliper to overhaul it, he noticed that the caliper had spacer pieces between the two halves.

Now this has got me wondering, is it possible to modify a caliper for non vented discs by splitting it and adding the spacers from my V6 calipers?  Has anyone tried this before?

It is perfectly feasible :y

Two points to note...

1. You will need new O rings for the spacer/caliper halves.

2. Be careful not to snap the bolts.

Alternatively you can buy new non vented calipers and 'convert' them... See point 1. :y

1, That's cool because I already have a caliper repair kit :)

2, understood! :y

I've already fitted brand new vented discs, so I'm comitted to retaining them!  I'm going to be using the Omega to tow a caravan so the vented discs will be a bonus.
