Opinion of wheel alignment experts sought.
« on: 13 July 2018, 12:31:49 »

I now have a printout of my tracking/wheel alignment test.

Can somebody decipher the results in simple terms.

£162 to put right if I let Tata do it.

Yes, your front toe and rear camber are comically bad :y

Not sure the toe is much of an issue. If the steering wheel isn't noticeably offset from straight ahead I'd argue they just clamped the steering wheel wrong.

Rear camber is interesting, though. Certainly not £162 worth of issues there. :o

Its pretty bad but should be adjustable for half what the dealer want.....camber caster and toe can be adjusted.

Has it got air suspension?

The car 'seems' fine to drive. I've driven 3 supercharged XFR's in total and this one seems the best with just 12000 miles beneath it's wheels.

Yet it's a bit of a basket case. :-\

Yes it has air suspension.

Basically, Opti, it's scrap value at best with this setup.

Best you sell me the whole car, for £500.00  :y

This does seem excessive.

Exactly what is the difference between tacking (which is what the garage used to offer) and 4 wheel alignment which should presumably cost about £80.

Steering wheel is straight. Tyres wearing evenly.

 ;D ;D Worth a try, eh?

Nothing but the words.. in fact to a lot of places "tracking" would mean just setting the front toe and ignoring the other settings & wheels..

So settings should be:

Ride Height

Front - 385mm +/- 12mm (measured centre of wheel to apex of wheel arch, all fluid full, full tank, no occupants/luggage, tyres inflated to normal pressure)
Rear  - 384mm +/- 12mm (measured centre of wheel to apex of wheel arch, all fluid full, full tank, no occupants/luggage, tyres inflated to normal pressure)

Front
Camber Left -0.36 (+/-.25), Right -0.12 (+/-.25) Balance -.24 (+/-.25) (Balance = left-right)
Caster Left -6.53 (+/-.45), Right -6.20 (+/-.45) Balance -.33 (+/-.45) (Balance = left-right)
Toe-Total Toe 0.13 (+/-.12)

Rear
Camber Left -0.59 (+/-.25), Right -0.59 (+/-.25) Balance -.24 (+/-.25) (Balance = left-right)
Toe Left  0.5 (+/-.8 ), Right 0.5 (+/-.8 ) Total Toe - 0.1 (+/-.12)

Silly question, but if the steering wheel is straight and the tyres are wearing evenly, what is the problem?
I've reported on here before that my 4-wheel alignment and tracking cost me £64 (with OOF discount) at Tyre-Smart in Witham, Essex - too far for you!
Doesn't the Forum usually recommend WIM?

Why are the front numbers different side to side? Or is the chassis built twisted ???

To accommodate road crown, maybe?
