Genuinely want to learn how to do it myself, as if I do ECP's BOGOF offer, it means next 'complete service' for the Zaf I can do sub £50, including oil.

The anticipation of what could happen (go wrong) is often worse than the reality.

You'll probably think the whole job was a piece of piss once you've done it. :y

Think ECP's oil would be fine?

TRIPLE QX Engine Oil (Fully Synthetic (Low Saps C3) Engine Oil - 5W-30 - 5ltr)

As I recall, as Zaf has a DPF, oil has low Saps (to prevent ash) it will do.

As just priced up via ECP: air filter, oil filter, pollen filter, fuel filter (all MANN) and 5L of 5w30 oil.

For £73 delivered. Could do 3x services for cost of one local indie one.  :)
Is that right for the GM lump?  Exactly what does your glovebox manual state?

And don't use ECP's online lookup tool for oil, I've yet to see it pick the correct one for anything made this decade.

I went Shell in the end:

Helix Ultra Professional AG 5W-30 - 5Ltr
API SN; ACEA C3; GMW16177 (dexos2™)

Book says:

Dexos2
ACEA C3

Bare in mind, I suspect most garages will chuck in anything they have about, I'm happy.

Should be fine.

£20 for 2 of these delivered when I last ordered from ECP. :y

Not quite as generous on codes I had, sadly.

Still, all filters and oil for less than £70.

Much less than £250 Vauxhall wanted, they also did not include the pollen filter, so suspect north of £300 for that. Might ring a garage for a quote including that, see how much I'm saving and therefore can spend money saved on other things.

Not that MrsT will see it that way.  ;D

Ive always thought changing the oil and filter is a pain in the arris ….

I dont have a driveway, so car is parked on a slope in the road

It can be a messy job

Then you have to get rid of the old stuff, so a trip to the tip.
