Xenon bulbs
« on: 15 September 2018, 12:50:16 »

Do the bulbs get tired.. the car is a 2004 and no sign in the service history of ever been replaced. Also is it worth upgrading these or just stick to original 4500 ones.

Yes, they do.
When one of mine failed, I debated whether to replace it or spend the extra £6 and do both. I'm glad I did, as after replacing the blown one there was an obvious difference in both the light output and the colour.

As said, new bulbs will make a very noticeable difference and worth the spend...make sure you do both though and advise to stick to OEM 4100k as above that wont give good light and look very chavv ;)

They lose there bright white colour over time, a common sign of ageing is when they start turn a pink'ish colour

Yes, they degrade.  They still look bright if you look at them, but they don't illuminate too well.

Buy branded ones from a reputable supplier (lots of fakes around, particularly Osram) for longevity.  4200-4500k is the sweet spot for illumination, or 6k+ if looking for that chav look.
