My eyes are peeled for white flat bed Transit's with winches.

When you say MKII, roughly what reg plate would that be on, (Old R,S,T), just so's I know what I'm looking for?

A Transit that old is bound to be quite distinctive!

Hi Guys

thanks for your continued intrest and support on this one - very much appreciated - as are the many pm`s  :)

Been to darn dentists and kinda numb and not much happening on this since i last posted - awaiting a call from police to take further details - should be at some point today, i really feel that if this is generally how they deal with crime then its no wonder the figures are so bad.

Anyway must not ramble i will only dribble out my numb mouth!  :(

here are some pics in the meantime - specially for the scottish lads..... ;)

thanks again
mark

really nice looking.... shame to think its in bits now.... >:(

Surely the local plod won't have that many transits of that type listed locally?

Maybe worth trying the local car transport services or recovery adverts in the local rag or yellow pages. - Then going to them and see what vehicals they have for towing / recovory

You say the wheels were custom have you tried doing a search for them alone only if you can find the wheels you maybe able find the car.

Just a suggestion were the wheels a specific make at all.

thought it was time for an update here  >:(

After 6 days and nights where my wonderful wife has searched constantly uncovering bits of information here and there and got a definite line of enquiry i have still not had ANY contact from the police. No promised visit, no promised ( on numerous occasions) callbacks

Despite the fact we have been doing there job, i would have thought that this would have made them more proactive!!!

Anyway Friday my wife ( through her social work background lol) approaches a local car thief that she kind of knows ( professionally) this guy is now straight and running a recovery business when the wife advised of the description and the fact the thief had a dog he replied " it wasnt a grey hound was it" clearly he has someone in mind.

We have got two possible areas that we have been advised are rife with broken cars - kind of unofficial scrapyards and my wife has been to one of them for a look but  didnt go in ( it was down a single track road on a farm in a barn)

Today i have decided enough is enough and despite her best efforts i really dont want her uncovering anything that will harm her. She has been doing this as i have been at work 10am to 7 pm everyday this week.

I lodged a complaint with the police divisional headquarters ths afternoon, about the lack of intrest and  feedback bearing in mind all the previous leads we have provided. Within 20 minutes i had a local inspector phone me regarding my complaint and within a further 10 minutes my first physical viewing of a cop as they came to my home!!

At the same time they are also now questioning our ex neighbour and star witness - who actually spoke to the thief

So moral of the story the cops need a boot up the back side to actually do any work.

Oh and they have decided 6 days after me telling them i had a buisness card found at the scene from a scrap yard...that they will take it away for fingerprinting  ::)

heres hoping next week brings pro active news....

If its down to pikeys, as you suspect, I doubt very much that the truck will be registered anywhere(it will probably be lots of bits of other trucks)

Mark, I'll keep my eyes peeled, but I've just noticed this thread so things will have progressed one way or another, don't know what chance I've got.

Hope something constructive happens over the next few days :-/

cheers guys as ever its appreciated

doubt we will see the car again.

So the purpose of this thread now is two fold.....

1.If you ever as a victim need to deal with the police - be polite, intelligent but very firm

and....

2.never assume anything is safe as this was garaged without battery, interior, steering wheel and sorn`ed

Nothings sacred  ::)

Sorry to hear about all your hard work being stolen, like you say its not the money its all hours of hard work that you do, its like you have lost a member of the family  :(. My hubby Philcavsri loves his mk2 cavs and spends hours working to keep them looking there best and we see them as a part of the family.
Never had a car stolen our selves but we have seen one of our best freinds had 1 stolen we were all in tears  :(. All the best and keep your chin up  :)

Would it be childish to say he would have, had he been speeding?  :o
