just back in the house from tinkering on the omega. my first line of duty was to remove the os cat pipe and beat, shake and shake some more to break up the already somewhat broken and rattling innards of the cat... fast forward aobut 2 hours (that was fun) and i refit the cat pipe now with one hollow cat. turn her over and the rasp is unbelievable but hey atleast the rattle is gone.. so since im all dirty and sweaty i decide its a good time to straighten the panel gap between the bonnet and the recently fitted wing, easy enough. then i decide to do some more work to my one off intake im building, previously i had just removed the airbox and fitted a BMC type carbon fibre housed air filter and whacked on a short bit of flexible intake pipe i nabbed off a TD escort that just happens to be the perfect size... anyway that meant where the air actually enters the filter is in corner of the engine bay and slightly bent forwards, as far as possible from the engine and radiator.. literally a few inches from the back of the headlight on that side.. anyway i noticed an oval shaped hole in the chassis so i took the fabric type hose that i removed with the standard airbox and bent it to an oval shape and stuffed the top of it thru the hole, i stuck on another peice of the flexi escort intake pipe onto that and aimed it towards where the filter draws air in from then i took the bottom of the standard fabric pipe and bent it round to sit just behind the little grill next to the fog light, then i removed said grill and chopped 3 rows of the flat plastic off the back (leaving the grill fins) and put it back on. now i have a lovely air feed for my filter and its not even noticable by looking at the front of the car.
cant wait to give her a test flight when i go for petrol in aobut half an hour, the air feed should really help when the car is moving. pity i have no way of uploading pics as our main pc is being fixed and thats the only one with the software for our digital camera.
