not sure if this is a stupid question?? but can i use a injector cleaner on my v6? if so could anyone recomend a decent 0ne,i know your supposed to put in half a bottle etc to a full tank,but has anybody,tried a full bottle to half a tank,half a bottle to a quarter tank etc???

As long as for petrol injection, and car friendly, no real problem.

Some peeps also say an occasional tank of BP's or Shell's high octane, high detergent stuff helps clean the injectors as well...

The Forte stuff seems to work much better thean Redex.

I have it on good advice that its even been known to help free sticking valves....!

I have been using Redex regularly for the past 10 years, heard very good things about Forte but never actually tried it.

I used to add Redex to every fuel tank, but since I started using BT Ultimate only I cut-down the Redex to every fourth tank.

And as for the BT Ultimate, before a new fuel thread starts, just to clarify that I have no preference between Shell Optimax and BT Utlimate, it is just that there are quite a few BT petrol stations where I live and no Shell!

I'm with Mark, Forte stuff is excellent.

Seems to vary in price quite a bit. I paid £5 a bottle on eBay.

I believe Optimax is no more, and its now called V-Power or something similar....

I use STP (bit dearer) every 6 months in any car.
Often a noticable improvement in performance and economy.

The last one i used was comma detox, seemed more effective than redex. I also put £20 of 'V power' in the MV6 a couple of days ago, definately feels more responsive.

I really don't think that an additive will do a proper job - I've never seen it anyway.

Without doubt, having the injectors sonically cleaned is the best way - but you need to remove them and take them to someone that does it. IIRC, about £15 per injector.

I use BP Ultimate in my 2.2 and find its more responsive and gives better MPG to go towards the extra cost.  Shell seems to whizz through with less difference and no cost savings.
