Crankcase Breathers
« on: 27 September 2006, 00:58:15 »

Search as I might I can't find any (how to's on cleaning the breathers) can anyone tell me the best way..or point me to a section (or thread) that deals with them.

As i'm doing my cam covers I know it's recommended to do the breathers at the same time.

Many thanks

Gord.

Yep, Mr McBurger has covered that in a How2.

You can find it here. ;)

It's also a good idea to do them periodically anyway.

I would definatley recommend cleaning the breather out. Mine was 3/4 blocked and was causing no end of problems, fault codes etc. Thanks to some very helpful forum type people, cleaned breather and car fine again. I was surprised that with only 50000 miles, it could get so blocked (then again, it had only be maintained by Vauxhall upto that point! [smiley=grin.gif])

I will be doing the job on a regular basis from now on. Especially now I've replaced those bloody horrible spring clips on the top with Jubilees to ease removal. Flame trap to be fitted next I think.
