NCDR1500 fitted and working
« on: 06 October 2008, 18:02:35 »

Well done to VXL V6 who cottoned on what I've been up to the past few weeks :y

Now its all in and working....

Head unit...

Display...

Made use of all that wasted space in Bose shelf :)

Still need to reassemble parcel shelf (hence the 'spares' in the boot), and cable tie up that bit of loom behind CD Changer.

Only mods to car loom were extending CAN and power from CD Changer plug (that was rerouted to bose shelf) to Telematics.

Everything else was done on a Traffic Master loom, and new bit of wire run from telematics to mic and to phone prewiring plug behind glovebox.

The car already had Bose, on about par with the ccrt700 bose setup soundwise (still reckon ccr800 has the edge on clarity).

Only 4 disc cd changer, with it being CDC3.

Phone is easier to use than ccrt700, and works slightly better signal wise.

Satnav is miles better than Carin, much faster.  Also, better having it up on display, rather than low Carin position.

Tuner seems to be about the same, but much easier to select stations from menu.

All-in-all a huge improvement, and I'm very happy with it.  Only downsides are 4 disc changer (rather than 6, but you can use single slot on HU for audio if not using satnav, or route already planned), and I reckon ccr800 has a slight audio edge (comparing to ccr800 in tractor, though I know I have a faulty speaker in MV6).

Looks good!  :y

You're right, there's a lot of wasted space in the Bose shelf, the telematics and CDC3 seem to fit nicely in there!

I think the Siemens CDC3 loads the CD's and starts playing them faster than the Blaupunkt CDC2.

Not sure. Probably not much in it, though the CDC2 has 6 disks to check...

I must also thank Taxi Driver for giving me a part I was struggling with.

True, also CDC2 doesn't seem to suffer laser failure to the same degree as CDC3 when playing 'backup' CD's!

That is truly a thaang of beauty!  SO let me get this right. the satnav instructions are displayed on your MID?

Also can you scroll through your phone book on the telematics and it displays in the MID also?

How tidy is that!

If anyone is that interested, I will do a short video showing it in action, as I know the NCDx setup will be unfamiliar to many.
