Title: Rear fog lamp won't switch off
Post by: annihilator on 30 December 2017, 15:44:51
My '96 cdx estate seems to be having this problem
http://workshop-manuals.com/vauxhall/omega-b/r__accessories/rear_fog_lamp/technical_service_bulletins/inoperative_totally_partially/front_and/or_rear_fog_lamp_illum._constantly_switching_off_via_switch_not_possible/

Anyone else had this(have tried a new dash switch)
Thanks

in side the light control there are 2 relays these control the fogs and spots depending on switch fitted, but they all have the same switches in them its just the buttons that are different, like these.  https://www.ebay.com/itm/5PCS-12V-SPDT-Relay-Coil-400-ohm-250VAC-30VDC-10A-/400244726383.

The fog light switch can be removed from the headlight switch without actually removing the headlight switch.

The switches are identical regardless of whether front fogs are fitted or not, only the cover plate/three springs/a clear plastic light diffuser/rocker plate and button are different. The basic housing contains all the metal work as part of the moulding.

If changing the complete headlight switch assembly doesn't work, swap the relays over... The two small black relays in the cabin fuse box.

If the fault moves, swap the relays, if not your issue is elsewhere... ;)

Incidentally, is it the fog lights that stay on or just the tell tale on the dash? Problem could be within the instrument cluster...

fixed it  :y
turned out despite being a '97 R it did have the mod previously mentioned

so removed both fuses but still stayed on removed relay still on,after a bit of head scratching I figured if it was still on it must getting a feed off the tail lamp and although it looked fine when I changed the bulb all was well.Presumably an internal short  :D
