Title: Where have all the 3.2’s gone?
Post by: V6 CDX-er on 28 December 2017, 22:29:13
At-up fellas

After a while away I’m back and on the hunt for another Omega, but this time preferably a 3.2 as opposed to a 2.6. The only problem is, where have all the 3.2’s gone? I’ve been looking on here, eBay, Autotrader, etc, but the 3.2’s are like hens teeth.

Answers on a postcard please?

Mine's for sale on Gumtree and Preloved. £500 but you'll need to come to S Wales for it. Like any old car it has issues but if you are handy with the spanners and a welder it is a nice car. Bought a Mitzy Outlander to tow a caravan. I'll miss the old girl.

Yep, they are getting rarer and rarer as people latch onto to certain correspondents / journalists apparently expressing their thoughts that the 3.2 Omega is the one to go for :y :y :y :y :y

My £4000 example looks a better bet by the week!! ;D ;D ;D ;D :y :y

It is worth what I can sell it for if and when the time comes. Rarity will always be a factor. ;D ;)

I personally rate the 3.0 better than the 3.2, each to their own  :y

Performance and Economically wise so do I, less Tree Huging involved, slightly more grunt up the top end as standard, and can easily give a handful of BHP's more for little outlay.

There seems to be more 2.2's being sold both saloon and estate.  I was hoping to find a V6 estate to replace the 2.2 estate I have, can find V6 2.6 saloons at a reasonable price.  They seem to be down country from where I live in Scotland. :(

I could be tempted to sell my 3.2 if I was offered the kind of money its worth to me. I'm realistic enough to realise though, that what its worth to me and what its perceived value is likely to be, are two very different things.
So, I will probably keep it until I think Ive had my money worth out of it, and then sell it for its percieved value, whatever that happens to be at the time.

Certainly rare these days, used to be plentiful examples around.

Think 3.0 was better, but I do prefer the lighter DBW throttle pedal of the 3.2.

Dammit, that's just greedy.

Ideally I'd like an Elite with the manual box conversion and MV6 suspension.

I suppose the other option would be another CDX with leather and find a 3.2 motor and manual box to put in it, or at least the 3.0 cams.

I was watching this one, but have one stuffed in the garage already. Worth a phone call.

All leather is at best inconvenient, and the Omega is no different. Uncomfortable when its hot, uncomfortable when its cold.

Best Omega seats, without doubt, are Elite Cloth

I didn't really know much about Omegas when I decided I might like a large automatic, at the same time as one came up for sale on www.autoshite.com in September 2016.
Having had numerous mk2 and mk3 cavaliers and mk3 and mk4 astras over the years I was aware that the MV6 or Elite V6 were my target, but I would have been happy with a 2.5/2.6
After more than 24K in the old barge, I reckon my 3.2 MV6 will turn out to be the best depreciating car I've had. As in it's worth more than I paid for it. Which isn't true of many of the cars I've owned, (apart from a couple of mk2 cavaliers I picked up at scrap value and saved from being scrapped, by servicing them and using them)
Would I sell it now ? I'm unsure but I know what figure would tempt me, and it's more than anyone would pay me.

Yea, its a Standard Elite though, rather than a Omega Special (Police Spec) so no Manual Box, LSD or Heavy Duty Suspension set up etc, probably owned by a Gov Dept and Serviced by the Met.

Horses for Courses really on the spec side, seems a nice looking Estate though.  ;)

Last Saturday a mate said he'd seen one for sale[don't know where as I didn't ask]it's a white 3.2 estate and apparently advertised as ex-police,chipped and race tuned with long/full[don't recall which he said]M.o.T. and service history. It's up at £2,500.Make of that what you will.

I've got a 51 plate  3.2 elite 130k that I could be persuaded to sell if some1 really wants it. Not in any rush to sell it though. Wrong side of the pond for most but I can arrange the boat if cost reflects that. Only thinking of selling as Ive bought a 2.2 diesel and don't fancy paying £300 odd a yr in tax for each of them!

I know a chap with an MOT'd 3.2 elite estate, he was looking to shift onto me for circa £400, dented front wing and a bit of rust in the rear arch but as far as I know otherwise fully working, located in Deeside

PM if anyone is interested as it'll end up being banger raced otherwise !

I still have two 3.2's and a 3.0 and I'm not planning to get rid any time soon,as I still enjoy driving them and never really think about their value...if any.Although having said that,I think I wouldn't mind getting a clone of Robsey's Supercharged V8 Omega estate...absolutely mental :o :y

They were few from the beginning and even rarer now. It's 15 years since they stopped production on them.

I have two, the last one I found in Germany. Here in Sweden you can find some now and then but they are usually rusty. The nice ones are kept by guys like us and they are seldom for sale.

But for you guys in the UK the German market might not be interesting since they have the steering wheel on the "wrong" side for you. But there usually are between 5 and 10 cars on mobile.de at least if you look for estates as I do. I think Saloons are more common but I'm not sure since I don't want them.

I've been driving Omegas for over 15 years now and you can't have a better car IMHO.

Thats the Sister car to my 3.2 Manual Saloon, almost the same Reg, Ex Thames Valley, well maintain by them, no Police toys on mine, just some bits added on afterwards like, LPG, Stainless Performance Cat Back, Full Remap with Widened Throttle Bodies, if its anything like mine should go like Stink.
