the trim on the bottom of the column was rubber so i probably could have moved half an inch further in!!

yeah i'd seen the unfortunate aftermath, its a good job you weren't injured and no one else was in the other vehicles.  Not meanin to sound a bit selfish but if it had been a facelift, i'd have been tempted to ask for the front centre armrest!
