Road tax

When did my 'road tax' go up?  ??? It was 'only' £485 last year, but now a nice round £500  :o  :o  :o  :'(

I pay £44 and change each month.

Mine was about £220 when I taxed it last year,no doubt they'll have upped that too when it comes time to re-tax it >:(

I make the road tax in Eire to be E2350 / £1786  for an R320  :o

Doesnt Irelands road tax included insurance or somethig like that?? I might be mistaken though

Don't be silly , you get absolutely nothing for nothing over here .
Historically , or at least since I moved here 11 years ago , the painfully high road tax rate was the only revenue stream from which all was distributed accordingly ,so with no separate household tax ( council tax ) or water rates it was bearable. With the advent of the latter ( by order of others abroad ) those of us with pre '08 cars are still paying the higher rate of vehicle tax AND the other two so therefore in effect paying twice .......
I pay € 710 per annum for a 2.0Lt Omega , a neighbour pays € 280 for a new BMW 2.0 Lt  due to th incredulous decision by the then government and the Greens .
The Irish politician is a distinctly incompetent  creature .
