Hi mr ICE man,
I have an R reg. 2.5 TD (BMW engine) same as yours and have just had it serviced. The garage said that my bolt was seized and they might break it, and the housing, trying to get it out. If so that would mean new parts. I have a mechanic friend who is going to try and remove the bolt for me but not until November as I can't be without the car in October due to upcoming daughter's wedding so can't help you at the moment but you are not alone with the problem. I will keep in touch and let you know the outcome and in the meantime if you have any luck maybe you'd let me know please. If it's new parts though it is going to be expensive, filter £12.99, bit it screws into £150.00 plus VAT & fitting! That is what I have been quoted so obviously am hoping my friend can help.
Good luck!

Have you looked in the 'Parts for sale etc' section on here?
Or you could try Steve at Omega Spares in Heathrow on 07706 495877. He's a good fella, and does mail order too.
What about a local scrapyard?

Don't forget a BMW or a Range Rover will have the same parts so that increases your options at a Breakers
