Auto Gearbox trouble
« on: 20 October 2016, 19:05:59 »

When the car is cold and i pull up to the traffic lights first thing, it will rev up in drive before moving off.
Also when cold if going up a hill there is sometimes a judder and it slips a bit then catches...
Drives fine when warm.
I asked the local garage to change the fluid and filter but they say it doesnt need doing on these.
We all know it does, and thinking about doing it myself...
Any thoughts?
I assume this problem will get worse if left..

Had mine done at 70000 miles, mainly preventative but recall before the job was done, it would "stick in gear" at times for longer than was normal. There is a useful guide on this site, and the mechanic I use who has a ramp, used this guide and made short work of replacing it and I purchased the auto box filter and gasket from Dave Kember 07767 618519 circa £35 plus p and p , and who is a straight six news member dave.kember@googlemail.com.Been 3 years since the job was done, and Daves details may have changed, and my auto unfortunately was written off by another driver about 1 year after the job was done, but run as sweet as nut until then. No doubt if you wait a while, a number of members on this site will furnish info and details :)

Mine does it on occasions. and I know I should check the fluid level etc but I don't have anywhere ideal to do it so it hasn't been done yet.

About £35 for gaskets and filter from JPAT. A couple of hours work on axle stands, very straightforward but somewhat messy :y
