Omega General Help / Re: Omega LSD
« on: 19 December 2019, 14:26:15 »
Zirk used to have a couple, but I haven't noticed him online for quite a while.
Edit. He was online 30th November. Not as long as I thought. Might be worth dropping him a PM.
Thanks, how do I find Zirk?
Ive only got 2 LSD's left and there both still attached to 3.2 Manual Specials and I'd like to keep them that way.

I did have a couple of good 3.9 (Auto) LSD ones but sadly they belong to the DVLA now as I forgot I left them in a Boot of a Car  >:(

I would say the chances of finding any now are zero, most of the Ex Plod ones where for Manual Boxes (3.7 Ratio) so the chances of finding any 3.9 Ratios for your Auto is probably a non starter.

You could fit a 3.7 Ratio LSD but it wont feel or run right with an Auto box especially when it come the the Final Lock Up on the Box at Mid Speeds and Hills on a Cruise, like wise you can fit a 3.9 to a Manual, get a bit more grunt on Acceleration with the higher Ratio, but it will drive you Mad on a Motorways with a V6 Revving at 3K at 70mph.

You really do surprise me Steve, you keep quoting News Stuff from the USA, I've always considered you as an Intelligent individual.  ::)  :-*

Now that is what concerns me, the effects on all of us, and our children, who don't smoke breathing in the vapours. So, on balance, until the risks are properly assessed, vaping anywhere in public should be banned. That should be a must. :y

More info here Lizzie on a UK Govt. Website if youn want to have a read.  ;)

Smoking kills you and, apparently, vaping kills you. Neither is far worse than the other.
What a ridiculous Statement Stemo, there miles apart in terms of Heath damage.  ::)

Think the NHS and BMA will dissagree with you on that one.  ;)

Trump and the USA are moving to ban flavoured vapes.

Is the banning maybe to do with it being easy to use vaping for addictive drug intake?

Some of the unregulated flavourings are causing rapid respiratory failure in the US (we are taking 1000s of cases) and quite a few deaths, hence the rapid decision to ban them. I don't disagree with this ban. Anybody that does vape in in uncharted territory on the long term health implications as they haven't been around long enough for anybody to know. :o
So by Banning the Regulated stuff from the Regulated Suppliers you then forcing Peeps to buy from unregulated Black Market suppliers.   :(

General Car Chat / Re: 2.6 to 3.2 upgrade
« on: 22 September 2019, 16:21:34 »
Not too bad a job.  Ideally the ECU needs to be told its a 3.2 (or if you use a 3.2 ECU, needs to be told its a manual), but easily achieved via Tech2.  The MID/GID/CID/whatever also needs reprogramming (via Tech2) IIRC.

2.6 will have R25 manual, 3.2 manual is R28 and slightly stronger.  Depends on the abuse levels you give it I suppose.
R28 was standard on 3.0 Manuals, 3.2 Manual Omegas were fitted with the R30 Box (R30 internals in a R28 Housing), these were a lot stronger and also had a longer Ratios, same Box as the 24V Dti Manual but different Ratios.

If you do the Lump swap and upgrade the Gearbox your also ideally need to swap the Diff as well.

3.2 Manual did have a slightly different Main ECU Map over the 3.2 Auto, as TB says best to Tech 2 the ECU though to tell it its a Manual, they will run without it but you may wake up one morning with a Car that wont start because the ECU cant see an Auto Box fitted.

People know, or should know, about the dangers of smoking. Vaping is advertised as a completely healthy alternative. Not so, according to a US study, who say that there have been deaths caused by vaping. It's all about the wool being pulled over people's eyes.
I think youve Hit the Nail on the Head there Steve    ..a US Study     ....probably Sponsored and secretly Funded by.....

The population of India is 1.39 Billion People, quiet of lot of Peeps, just to put it into prospective China has a Population of 1.42 Billion, so there not far behind and rapidly catching up.

Smoking, 70% of the Adult Males in India Smoke, yes 70%, and the Women are not that far behind, good news for the likes of The British & American Tobacco Company, Phillip Morris etc in terms of Sales Profits and obviously good news for the Indian Government in there Tax takings.

But heres the thing, you would think with these Alarming Smoking Figures which are also increasing, the Indian Government would want to do something towards the Health and Welfare of its People in order to help?

Well, now they have, this week in fact, The Indian Government, have, pretty much Overnight, signed off a New Rule to completely Ban, yes a Total Blanket Ban on            ......wait for it, ...Vaping, I think thats the one that helps Peeps give up Smoking but where you hardly make any Tax on.

The Ban, will include, The Sale, Manufacture, Distribution, Import, Export and any Repairable Parts or Items to do with Vape Devices and E Liquids with Heavy Penalties for those who choose to ignore the New Ruling.

Now, so what, you may think, if there all busy Smoking anyway, well 42 Million of them, and increasing, are Vapors, and to put that into prospective, if you add the all the Vapors in the UK, Europe and USA all together that totals to about half the 42 Million Vapors in India, in fact 42 Million is approximately half of all the Vapors on the Planet. So, serious repercussions on the Vaping Industry.

Its all about the Money Honey.

General Discussion Area / Re: Fighter Pilot : The Real Top Gun
« on: 21 August 2019, 15:00:37 »
Well, no one has mentioned it yet, but dif you see the ITV's Fighter Pilot: The Real Top Gun?

I found it fascinating.  The training of new fast jet pilots, to experienced pilots learning to fly the F35 Lightening, which gave us some insight into that aircraft. All great stuff!

Just two questions though for people on here who know these things:

What is the big panel that is raised behind the canopy on the F35, that looks like a giant air brake, but I noticed was raised during a traditional, long runway, take off? ??? ???

Also they quoted a top speed of 1200 mph for the F35, but the old English Electric Lightening could at least do 1300 mph (apparently, but subject to it's "secret" classification). The fastest Mk24 Spitfire in level flight could do 454 mph.  So is that quoted "1200 mph" for the new F35 Lightening purely for the public's ears and is in actual fact a classified far higher speed than that?  For £100 million, in 2019, I would expect the F35 to go a lot faster than the old Lightening! ??? ???

 ;)
Shoddy Workmanship again, should have been screwed down.

General Car Chat / Re: Coolant loss in Vectra
« on: 08 August 2019, 22:53:07 »
Thanks for advice.
The coolant level in the header tank used to rise as the coolant heated and expanded, then fell back as coolant cooled. After changing the cap the coolant level falls as the engine heats up, but if I remove the cap coolant level rises back to the line, and I hear a hiss of released pressure. Faulty cap seems likely.
Sounds like it could be pissing out the cap and now youve got air in the system
