This important Pacific battle is overshadowed by the Battles of Midway & Coral Sea, but was an important airborne battle & allied victory which eased the threat of a Japanese invasion of Australia. :y

Yes, a very crucial turning point with the Japanese line of victories coming to an end as famously Admiral Yamamoto warned after Pearl Harbour:

"I fear all we have done is to awaken a sleeping giant and fill him with a terrible resolve."

Japan's brief spell of advantage and military surprise was over. :y
