Yes, unstable and dangerous times.
I was going to start yet another thread, but Rod has set the scene splendidly with this one, so......
The country is split many ways, with multiple political parties vying for the public's vote. The politicians are wheeling and dealing, scheming and manipulating, across parties, and bargaining for power. One leader has been "voted in by a group of people, away from the democratic process, to lead them as the head of the country, with much lobbying by interested parties wishing to manipulate the end result and gain a power behind the created political situation. The Soveriegnty of the people's Parliament is under attack, with even a move to suspend that it, although by unholy alliances it is deflected. All this is being done away from the true will of the people and ignoring their wishes with the politicians bent on their own agendas to achieve whatever it is they want. Outside gangs of thugs are beating up, stabbing, and even shooting innocent individuals who get in their way, operating in an increasingly violent environment, that is hostile to free speech and the rule of law, and wish to destroy democracy.
Britain today? Well.........some will get angry over this, with my free speech annoying them but...............for those who are interested in the past and current direction of democracy............just watch on catchup the first episode on BBC2 of
Rise of The Nazis.
No, I am not going to say anymore than it really does highlight what happened in Democratic Germany from 1930, which has parallels with what is happening now, in the context of today, which even the various distinguished contributors emphasise.
For the UK, and in context with what is happening elsewhere in the World, it should be a warning from history, especially as we have yesterday quietly marked the 80th anniversary of our country starting it's belated fight to stop the evil of Nazi Germany
