Just took a look at ours they were done by the previous owner certainly a much better finish than that, all the edges are nice & tight and round the fireplace there is a beading strip which I presume hides any gaps.

I've done a few laminate floors with sculptured hearths , I just put wood under the hearth (raising it 10mm or so ) and "float" the hearth over any gap .
There's a skirting board cutter you can get that removes the 10mm or whatever you set it too ,from the bottom of the skirting too .
Also plastic skirting boards that are hollow ,great for running/hiding  TV, cat 5e ,phone lines etc

but how would you lift a hearth without breaking it if it's already down? I think she can live with the edging quadrant around the rest of the room on the skirting.

Having a Google ... I've found a couple of trims that look like they'd do what I want .... none of them are available  ???

Obviously too late as your floor is fitted
but I just remove the entire fire surround ,hearth etc and refit 10mm higher  ;)
I also remove toilets and basins in bathrooms ,kitchen plinth kick boards etc
you could probably put some deep 9mm  :-\ cream tile trim in the gap  ,nothing is going to look perfect  :(
95% of people probably wouldn't notice fine detail like that gap
I probably would  :D I go round looking at how people finish trim etc  :-[

Putting pads under the hearth is ok during construction but not really feasible in this instance. I know what you mean though Dave, as this is what my son did, as his hearth for his wood burner is stone slabs so the flooring goes under the slabs but doesn't touch them so the expansion gap is maintained.

No, in this case, ....... a wider than required trim to create a frame/border so that good old dad can scribe the inner edge corner rads to match the hearth profile, hence losing some of the width of the trim. The professional in you knows that this is what you want to do Andy.  ;D :y  Or, get some trims CNC cut to match the profile.  :y
Use a multi-tool to notch out the quadrant to tuck the trim under.  :y

Girlies love fairy lights, so drape some over the mantlepiece and around the hearth which will hide the multitude of sins!  :y

Looking at how the board's run, I'd be tempted to remove the trims on the skirting boards on either side of the fireplace and slide all the board's inwards so they are snug up to the hearth.

The front edge would be ok with a small amount of sealant, and the radiuses aren't that bad, it's the sides that need attention.

Best knock the house down and start again, such detail needs planning early on  ;)

Scribing would work, especially if placed on a works CNC in router mode on a milling machine.  ;D :y
A fret saw would sort the corner rads and it would look pukka.  :y

This is the type of scribe mitre I was referring to Andy. The stepped hearth edge causes a slight issue, hence why flat trim would be easier to work with. Obviously you'd have to buy oversized trim to end up with the desired width after the radius had been cut.  :y
