Omega Engine Weights
« on: 28 September 2006, 11:46:51 »

I'm thinking about doing a bit of a project which will involve my old 2.0 - more info to follow on that.

However, please can someone give me some info, and post up the weight of the engine in the 2.0?

Cheers

I dumped one of those (out of Sunbeam) to replace with a 1.6 Avenger lump and the front suspension dropped 3 inches

I should be fitting my engine tomorrow, provided the breakers have it out as promised! I'll check with the engine crane I've borrowed to see if it'll lift on the lower settings and report back.

Take care with cheapo engine hoists, they topple over... Those of you who remember Jseaman from 'the other side' will know what I am talking about.

...on this subject a little tale.

Bought a 2 tonne sealey from a very well known authorised agent about 6 weeks ago ( and dam good it is)

However that was the second one they sent - the first had parts missing - box was wrecked by courier and some smaller parts must have fell out.

One month on and they were still fighting with with the courier company who wont come and pick it up / admit liability etc etc,

The bottom line is that yesterday they all came to an agreement and payoff and the upshot is i now have 98% of a second engine crane for free as they are now not going to come and collect it.

So if anyone up this way needs one for a loan give me a shout....

Hi James, I used the engine hoist today to lift my engine from the trailer onto it's "storage trolly" and even with the hoist set on the minimum 0.5 ton setting, it managed it no bother. Hope this helps.

Cheers Jim
