Wheel bearing? You properly breaking it or being over dramatic.

Not putting much confidence in me getting a 6 year old XF or XJ  :-\

Discovered my 3.2 is actually silver, not battleship grey. Old girl looks decent-ish again, at least presentable for MOT.

Washed and hoovered the bus as well, comes up well with little effort.

No tunes, no TV, no seat heaters/coolers, no massage, uncontrolled climate, no parking aids, no nav, no dvd.  I had to talk to Mrs TB going to mums and back.

Attempting to fix a minor annoyance has not ended well.

So today with the help of my neighbour I began stripping down the front end of my Omega to sort out the PAS leak.

In the process of doing this I discovered I had a bunch of siezed screws and nuts.

The front off side brake caliper is seized

The Headlamp level sensor has been bodged onto the wishbone with tiewraps rather than transfer the bracket to the new wishbone.

The Condenser core was split (I expected this to be honest)

The Multiram had been refitted incorrectly so one of the rubbers was pinched where it attaches to the inlet manifold/plenum

The high pressure PAS hose I'd picked up yesterday was not going to fit!  It had a different fitting on the end and the length of the hose and the angle of the attachment meant it would not line up with the pump, which meant I wouldn't even be able to look at getting a banjo bolt to fit.

I also discovered the front crossmember was heavily corroded.  I've spotted a brand new crossmember on ebay but I'll have to ask my step father if he fancies welding it for me!

So I've put an order online tonight for a new condenser and dryer, new pads and discs and wear indicator and a set of caliper seals and I'm onto plan D now with the PAS hose.  In the worse case, I have a hydraulics firm in Bolton who reckon they can either repair my hose or fabricate a new one.

Knackered now and ready for bed!

At least you're finding your way around the cat. After you've broken it a few more times, you'll be an expert  ;D

I'd have put that on towards the end. A bit fragile to be working around.  ;D

Ah yes, but you have to take the steering column out to get to drill the mountings.. so as Jimmy suggests, it'll be on & off a number of times!

It's also the only way you can set the position of the wipers (which, again, have to go in before the dashboard).

Building a kit car is on my (short) bucket list. I would like to do a Stratos replica. It will probably never happen though. ::)

Don't forget (and I'm sure you haven't!) about getting the pitch of the screen rights so there is the right tension in the hood. If you're bothering with one at all that is  :y
