Ford st220 estate
« on: 09 December 2019, 19:43:56 »

Brought this at the weekend of fleabay, seller is putting mot on it ,but i have been told it is a very rare production model,it is 1 of 18 estates produced for the uk market, and is now1 off 12 left on the road,it is due to the colour infra red, which was only done for 2 years, but now the even rarer bit is that this was an early production estate with it being the only 1 to have the cream leather interior.

Still one of the prettiest estates ever made.

Our traffic chaps had a pair some years ago, both of which are now long gone...

Circa 1996, my Uncle was given a white Mk2 Mondeo 2.5 4x4 to break when he was a Traffic Sergeant... Complete with reflective side stripe, light bar and mocha leather interior  :D

It was a Ford factory demonstrator that they ran for a month.

Surprising that the 220 only gave out 226BHP, as my 2.0 Ecoboost is, reputedly, 236.6!

Don't forget the mighty 3.2 V6 Omega, 211BHP!

Any modern Turbo 2.0 4 pot has more power than older 3.0 6 pots.

Its an old engine, built in a time when petrol engines were getting no development.  And also from an era where cc could be used instead of silly turbochargers.

Remember the 3.2 is a penny pinched, knobbled version of the superior 30yr old 3.0l.

That said, I'd much rather have a 30yr old NA V6 than a modern, nasty small engine petrol turbo.
