Gender neutral-again!
« on: 24 April 2019, 07:55:27 »

Ships in particular have always traditionally been referred to as "she",but now the Scottish Maritime Museum have put a stop to this[signs have been vandalised with the word She scratched out]and their staff now have to refer to ships as "it" as that's gender neutral and therefore shouldn't cause anyone to be offended.

I'd love to know what they'd make of the GK fleet. Half of them are male, half female...

I will refer to anything I like as anything I like. Most of the gender neutral things on the telly should definitely be referred to as 'it', but I bet they'd take offence if you called them that.

But not nearly as much offence as calling them 'Bob'...  :D

I can't believe that this is bothering people.  So a small change is made to balence things out a bit (which are still far too much in favour of men) boo frickin hoo.

There are more important problems in life, REAL PROBLEMS!  Such as making sure that when someone makes you a cup of tea that they dont make it piss weak.

Yorkshire Tea, please, because everything else is like milk & water. However:

Could it be Bradford?

Plenty of dusky people around to pick the tea. :)

I don't believe it's bothering people either. A ship is, and always has been, 'she'.

100% agreement.  No other tea is worthy in Chateau Gaffers.
