Wishbones
« on: 02 April 2020, 15:14:10 »

Are Delphi wishbones any good nowadays.
Going to replace mine...in days of old when money flowed, I fitted Lemforder. But as a retired gentleman, who drives at a sedate pace, knocking up about 3000 miles or less a year in the Omega, obviously money has to be 'nurtured'. In laymans terms, I have to justify to 'her indoors'

If TB isn't looking, might IK suggest the ATP wishbone kit - both sides plus drop links and track rods for about £70, delivered? Mine were replaces by Serek in 2017 and still ok.

Ron.

Thanks for the links, chappings....however, Al, I can't understand a word of the ATP page. Can't see how to add to basket, even.  :-\

Is that latter NAG kit at least as good as the ATP branded kits?
Have you tried them out?

I haven't, but it's cheap, and for the milage your doing, you don't need genuine, mega-costing parts, they will do the job.  Last wishbones, Track-rods, and droplinks I put on mine cost £50, (Poly bushes) from previous set.

I'll have to give ATP a miss, Al. Thanks for that link, though. I registered, and put some stuff in my cart, went to checkout, but in the address dropdown box, there is nothing for the uk. I'll go for the other links. Shame as just the pair of bones were only 42 euro's, mind you I dont know what postage was.
As said, I only use the car to potter around Brackley nowadays, odd trip to Wycombe or Banbury.

Sorry Tony, did you actually try?

Click on Deutschland and scroll down to UK.

Can't be bothered isn't an excuse, and whilst it's entirely up to you where you get bits from, I am genuinely pissed off that I bothered trying to help.  >:(

I actually went through the whole process and then linked back to the first page you enter your own details.

That's why I got 'arsey', because I had actually bothered to try and got the distinct impression that you'd simply not bothered. Doesn't take much to work out United Kingdom from a drop down list.  :-X

A bit late to say now, but I got my ATP kit from ebay (don't tell TB!) in English and delivered, as I said earlier, for £70 including VAT.

Avoid ATP like the plague.  Even if they ever do deliver, you will see that their stuff is really really shit. Firstline type shit.

If you have Lemforders currently, rebush the failed bushes on those.  Ideally with Poly on the front ones.

And avoid ATP. Their stuff is utter shite.  And often they don't bother posting.

Did I mention ATP are shite?  Avoid them.

I agree re ATP. Delivery is shite and customer service non existent. Life is too short to deal with people like that.

never waited more than 3 days.
Packaging was good, separate; easily damaged parcels included a radiator, pair of sills, and a heater matrix bundled with 4 springs.
Always bought enough for the delivery to be included.
Got several years out of the wishbones, and once again, the differences between them and crusty wornout GM ones weren't worth worrying about.
Never needed the customer service. I've only ever needed customer service for car parts 3 times in 32 years, one of which was a Ford main dealer supplying the wrong parts. As I resent being lied to(these bushes are the same part number, even though the labelling said otherwise), I never used them again.

It seems to be hit & miss with them. If they have your order in stock they will send it out to you. If they don't, they will set about sourcing it from suppliers and that takes as long as it takes.
I waited over three weeks for a small order and they ignored all attempts to communicate until after it had been delivered.

Drop shipping is the new business model >:(  (I stopped using Allgerman for the same reason.)

Every twaaat and their dog seems to do that nowadays...

For example, I ordered six can of my favourite upholstery cleaner ten days ago. Order confirmed, get an email on the Friday confirming shipping with a delivery date of last Monday/Tuesday. Obviously it didn't turn up, so on Thursday I rang them... "still processing orders from 23rd March... Don't know if we have it in stock, so I will get it shipped here from our Sheffield depot. And will forward it on when it gets here."

I understand that places are short staffed and that delivery times are a bit off at the moment, but if you don't stock something, you shouldn't be allowed to advertise it.

So, today, I need to go to Halfords to buy it at 50% more just so that I can start to get stuff done ready for replacement bits to get the car running.

ATP are cheap, and it isn't unreasonable that this affects their service standards, but at least you know that you get what you pay for. And I would rather this than paying through the nose for shit/unhelpful service from franchises.
