Had an advisory on the wifes '95 3.0L Elite saloon rear suspension self leveling link arm. Its the little arm that goes from one of trailing arms up to the load sensor for the self leveling rear suspension, about five or six inches long with a little plastic cup on each end. Its not the end of the world but I noticed that the back end was a little saggy with all the tools in the back after doing the rest of the work for the MOT!!!! Anybody got one? Thanks.

General Car Chat / Anti Rust Protection
« on: 30 April 2013, 19:11:30 »
Chaps,

Not for an Omega but for my 7.5 tonner, got some cleaning up and painting to do on the ladder chassis. I was thinking along  the lines of kurust and underseal but is there anything a bit more robust that I can use? We want to keep the truck for a few years yet so would rather spend a few quid to do the job right!! Thanks for any advice.

Omega General Help / Road Springs?
« on: 29 April 2013, 23:00:44 »
Hi there, I've got one busted front spring (boings on turning!) so need to replace both fronts and because I carry a lot of weight thought I'd do the rears as well. I guess it would be recommended to use genuine springs? Are they a Trade Club item? Any idea how much? Thanks.

PS Its for my 3.0L manual Elite estate (yes its got self levelling!)

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Battery Prices?
« on: 08 June 2012, 20:08:47 »
Anybody know how much a 3.0 Elite manual Vauxhall battery would be with TC? I've always had Varta's but I remember last time I was advised that the Vauxhall batteries are ok so I thought I'd give them a go as I need one! Thanks.

Omega General Help / Door rubbing strips-fixing?
« on: 24 December 2011, 11:08:26 »
As the title suggests, the rear nearside door rubbing strip (waist strip?) is coming loose at the back end on swmbo's car. It looks like there might be some sort of clip to hold it onto the door but without pulling it right off or bending the trim I can't see clearly. Did a quick search and found a posting which suggests that clips are used, but just clips alone? No sealing strip/sticky stuff?

Omega General Help / Nearside exhaust manifold gasket V6
« on: 07 December 2011, 11:57:41 »
I think my manifold gasket has started blowing. Went down to Calne near Swindon from Tunbridge Wells and noticed it after we'd got back. Sounds like the rear pot of the three which seems favourite judging by the other postings I've looked at on here. My question is, is it really that much of a pig to do? Just been signed off for a week so don't relish working out in the cold for days if it is! I understand you have to undo the engine mount and raise the engine up a bit to get at everything but do you go in from above or below? There's also talk of a coolant pipe with O rings? Anybody got any pics of what the nearside of the engine looks like out of the car? The Haynes manual says to take the engine out but that seems a bit extreme! Any help would be appreciated.

Car Parts, bits For Sale & Wanted / MID Wanted
« on: 02 November 2011, 19:29:16 »
Chaps,

Yes, I need another MID for an early 3.0 Elite with the black and yellow plugs, part number 90 379 234 The last one I got for SWMBO's car was better than we had but that seems to be more or less FUBAR'd now :-( I saw a posting on Ebay offering a repair service for £100 which seems a bit steep but I suppose if it was guaranteed... If anybody could help I'd be grateful. Can pay by PayPal. Thanks.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Electric mirror switch?
« on: 16 August 2011, 21:46:43 »
Mine has a yellow LED to show when the heater is working (rear demister is on) but the switch is iffy. Got a replacement (thanks Rob!) but it doesn't have the LED, does this matter? Don't all Miggys have heated mirrors? In which case why are there switches without LEDs? Can I put a without LED in and it'll work? I know when the heating function is on as the rear demister is on...

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Idle Current Draw?
« on: 29 April 2011, 12:00:31 »
Yes as you can see, I'm not watching the wedding!

Went out to the car last night nad the battery was nearly flat. Charged it overnight stuck it on this morning but put a meter on it to see what the current draw was, it was hovering around the 1A mark! Now I would have said that was quite high, anybody know roughly what the current drain should be? Even a bit battery won't put up with an Amp being drawn from it for long.

The worrying thing is me and a mate put a Parrot handsfree kit in last weekend, so I pulled the radio fuse (F12) to see if that was drawing the current and it isn't! So now I'm really stumped. I guess it's a case of pulling all the fuses...

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Philips SC804 Help
« on: 27 April 2011, 20:17:20 »
Hi, just fitted another SC804 in SWMBO's car to get the CD player working again (long story). I can't find my Audio book to find out how to manual tune the radio :-( Is there anywhere I can get a PDF copy of the Audio booklet for the Omega?
Also, the new radio does what mine does, when you switch it on its starts scanning straight away. It will eventually settle on a station or you can press one of the presets and it'll find that straight away. Is this a fault or a function? Is there something you can do to stop this happening? It's no biggy but it's a bit of a fag!!
Thanks all.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Central Locking Solenoids?
« on: 31 January 2011, 20:30:53 »
Are all central locking solenoids the same? I have some out of an early car, '95 and a mate's just bought a 2002 car with a drivers door that doesn't lock from the central locking. I guess the first thing to try is the mechanism and the solenoid, didn't want to get one in if I could use one of my spares!

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Cooling Fan Temp?
« on: 23 January 2011, 15:05:15 »
What temp should the radiator electric cooling fan cut in at? It's not for my 3.0 Elite, it's for my mates 2.5CDX, he reckons the fan never cuts in. We did try last weekend but it was so flipping cold I'm not surprised it didn't cut in! Any ideas? Is the top switch on the rad the fan one? Should be able to remove the plug and short the terminals to prove, yes? Thanks for any help.
