Bose system
« on: 28 March 2007, 09:03:48 »

Happy to say that I've just put a deposit down on an s plate elite.  I've phoned Vauxhall to get the original spec which they've emailed to me but it makes very little sense.

I know it hase the Bose system with a tape headunit with the inbuilt phone and a 6 cd changer but I don't know the spec of the system.  Can anyone shed any light on this for me at all on what it looks like, what it does etc.

Thanks guys

Has buttons on the front, sound comes out?  ::) :P

Looks like a standard tape radio.  CD changer is in the boot.

If it has the phone, it will be CCRT700, and have a unique display. It only takes 900Mhz GSM SIMs, so voda or o2.

If not phone, it will be CCR800 with a standard MID.

Both have a 6 disk changer in boot.

Both are quite good with Bose setup.

I know its got the phone so it'll be the CCRT700.  What's the sound quality like on the Bose systems?

Sound quality is quite good for a factory system.  Better that some other cars with Bose, worse than some.  Amp is under the parcel shelf.

Bose equipped CCRT 700? Nice and rather rare!

Damn impressive standard system.

10 speakers including subwoofer on parcel shelf.

Only about 30w rms per channel, but Bose make that seem like quite a bit more.

Trust me, you will love it! :)

Can't wait to get the Bose working in the Elite, and give it a good 'testing'.....   ....obviously with Play on R4 ;)

yep ... that's what would have been in my old elite (T reg) ... if the previous owner hadn't ripped out the CCRT700 and bodged the wiring loom to bypass the amp  ::)
... the blaupunkt 6-disc CD changer was still in the boot ...

Also noticed; yesterday I was having a play & changed the bass/treble to 0.
Today they're back at +3 which they were originally?

Also the the only way I can switch it off when the ignition is off is pop the front panel off?

OK, I've sussed the bass/treble.
I'd changed the setting to 0 on the radio, the CD is still on +3, still can't get it to switch off without taking the security panel off though...

Not that familiar with the ccrt unit, unlike the earlier car300/400/ccr600/800 units which all operate the same way.  It may be one you may have to look up in manual. Do you have one?  If so, look for On/Off Logic....

OK, think I have a problem with my head unit  :-/
Read the manual & it says it's operated with the key with ignition logic on & with the on/off button with it off. I've tried both setting & it will switch on but won't switch off without removing the security panel.
It looks like it's been taken out at some point too because a couple of the grub screws have not been put back in all the way........

You are removing key from ign?  It will stay on if you don't.

Sincere apologies if I'm teaching you to suck eggs  :-[

No worries, doesn't matter if key's in ign or not it won't switch off with on/off button.
I locked the car & left it for an hour & 1/4 but it was still on when I went back....

I wonder if you have an ignition problem, rather than radio issue??

I guess unit swap with someone to see if fault goes with stereo or stays with car.  Assuming you have the codes of course.

Hhhmmm, well now I'm not so sure.
I left the radio on while filling up, when I restarted the Sat Nav was saying insert CD.
Checked when I got to work & it had been ejected, will monitor this over the next couple of days....

Assuming yours is the same as mine;

The on/off button is on the top left of the main selector knob, says 0/1

The bass and treble are set independently for each function; radio, tape, CD

I have the codes for mine.

I don't think you can eject the Sat Nav CD from the head unit, so maybe issue is with the Sat Nav unit in the boot.

I am going to Cornwall this weekend and don't want to be without sound.

OK no probs, I can live with it for a while, it's just a tad annoying!
I'm going to take the head unit out on Saturday & have a poke around....

It could be that someone has had a different head unit in there, swapped the power connections over on the ISO connectors and then put the old one back in to sell it without swapping the supply connections back.

Have a look behind the unit and see if there are signs of bodgery.

Got some more pictures last night of the new investment.  Its got Philips and Bose on the cassette flap and what looks like "Oli Star" as well - presuming its something to do with the inbuilt phone.  Its got the Carin sat nav as well.

Is there a seperate speaker for the phone mounted in the passenger footwell?

Nope, phone mutes radio and sound comes through the cars speakers, microphone for phone in the interior light assembly.

Got mine sorted  :)
The cage was bent at the back & wasn't holding the connection blocks in place properly so when the radio was pushed in it was pushing them back. Bent the cage to hold the connectors popped radio back in & jobs a good 'un.
