Took the Merc for a spin to where we store our caravan, the owner had a lovely C43 AMG Merc, he has traded it in for a Maserati what a beautiful machine.

Drove the Omega over 30 miles this evening, which is more than it usually gets driven in one go. Its still a lovely thing to drive.
Might have to keep it forever and forget about the CL500.  :)

Looked at the Monza and thought" I will miss it when gone" but the V8 will make up for it
Counting down the days until the Monza is taxed and then advertised

Now listen here scouse git. I know Keith personally, and know that he has been on the lookout for a V8 for quite a while but wasn't going to jump into buying one unless it was the right one at the right price.
His post above seems to confirm this.
Now far cough.  ;D

Looked at mine, decided it really needed a wash.  So did nothing other than drive it about.

Decided that the quality of driving around these parts is shocking, having had to take defensive, evasive manoeuvres on multiple occasions today.  One time, I saw a car overtake me, and I knew he wouldn't be able to take the car in front, so braked significantly to make space for him...   ...but no, he carried on, making the car in front have to do a full blown emergency stop, and the car coming the other way do likewise, and even then it was tight.

I'm all for making progress, and believing that everyone else should also make an effort to, but never at the expense of other drivers having to take avoiding action.

30 miles ? Barely warmed up.

Drove my omega 400 miles last week, however the last 60 with a miss-fire, but no spanner light.
Autoglass came and fitted a new screen on Saturday and managed to avoid the rain. It then pissed down all day.
Sunday came and so I sprung into action.
Replaced the fuel filter (No change, but it was due - it there a special tool available...I really made a meal of it and ended up with petrol in my eyes) and the plugs with what my local motor factor had in stock (Bosch).  It really is a ballache, changing the plugs on a 3.2 V6. Who ever designed the "externals" (pipe hoses harnesses and wires) wants to watch me skimming my knuckles.
Drivers side bank has a small oil leak from the rocker gasket.  This was the side I didn't do 2 years ago, on the premise that "if it's not broke, don't fix it" The other side does not have a leak.  I cleaned out the breathers 6 weeks ago so I ignored them as I was getting cold in the wind.
The spark plugs were erm past their best.  How long should they last? I reckon that 45K and 2.5 years is okay. Perhaps I won't leave it so long next time.
Anyway ..... that cured it.

Or did it?  This morning 40 miles into my commute, as I floored it to accelerate from the M62 to the M6, the spanner light came on.  I obviously ignored it as the car was running fine, and at 70 mph the instantaneous fuel consumption was fluctuating from 31 to 35 mpg.  It went off after 15 miles.

When I got to work I plugged in the code reader.  P0170 and P0173  Fuel Trim

I've erased them.

I wonder if they'll come back.  I've got a 2 day window in a couple of weeks to do more maintenance.  I'm thinking Rocker Gasket, ATF and Filter, another oil change, and top the diff up.  It seems to be weeping a little. I will have done another 800 miles by then.

30 miles ? I need to get a job closer to home.

My job is 17 miles away, which is by far the longest commute Ive ever had. Rarely use the Omega for work though. That's what the 190 is for.  ;)

Front calipers dismantled , cleaned and rebuilt with new seals ,dust and slide covers plus new nipples. All bled through with fresh fluid .
Diff cover removed and old oil emptied. Already to rebuild again but sealing gasket material suspect so new tube delivered tomorrow.
Oil and filter changed . Checked over for Irish MOT .
