If you existing r.stat has a neutral wire (blue) then you can fit the rf stat easily first check with a multi meter that the earth cable (green/yellow) is being used as a switched live for the motorised valve. disconect the plug for the heating control or switch off the fused spur, using the continuity setting on the multi meter see if there is continuity from red to gr/ye with the existing rstat turned down (should not be) then turn to max position this should give continuity. The new rf stat then should be wired with the live neutral to their respective terminals a live link to the common on the switch terminal and the gr/ye to the call for heat terminal. but sleeve the gr/ye cable with some red tape for future ref.

General Discussion Area / Re: Safety feature or downright dangerous?
« on: 09 November 2008, 18:49:44 »
Having read this post from start I find there are extremes of veiws, limiters can cause serious danger to many road users, a sixteen year old on a moped than can hardly keep up with traffic around town is putting his life in danger and that of others who attempt to over take for the sake of an extra 10 mph. Trucks on a long climb causing frustration to others following. A mini bus on an B road pushing it through a twisty section is probably far more dangerous than the same mini bus cruising at 70mph on an open road or motorway they may not reach the limiter on the B road but this doesn't make it safe. The driver should be the one in control yes you are limited by the vehicles capabilities but a good driver will asses this whilst making his/ her decisions. A bad driver will be a danger what ever you try to do. To have an extra control that has no regard for road conditions has got to be dangerous whether in this specific case or others, For example if you start an over take and a vehicle pulls from a side junction that hasn't seen you, having the choice of accelerating or braking may save lives. If following a slower vehicle in a line of traffic often when you pull out to over take the vehicle behind you has already filled the gap you were in leaving you no where to pull back into if you brake so having the option of accelerating above the speed limit is probably the safest response. Speed restrictors are the thin edge of the wedge of the government controling your driving habits

Few people who claim to be Welsh, speak Welsh. Few people who claim to be English, speak English. The reason the signs in Wales are bi-lingual is that you have to slow down in order to read the English part which is second on the sign. road safety sea boyo

It appears that few of you on  this forum like ross or brand I have to agree with you. Apparently though lots of other people out in the other world find their tasteless supposed humour very funny. It just show how little respect there is out there for other peoples feelings privacy or dignity. I feel sacking wuold not be good enough bring back the stocks in trafalgar square and allow the public to administer their own justice. :y

I think it's a disgrace that so many aspects of our lives are monitored. people say if you do nothing wrong you have nothing to worry about. If you told a guy in a pub twenty years ago having a pint and a fag that he was a criminal you'd have been laughed at. I believe in the need for laws but they appear to be a means to control our lives rather than allowing society to run smoothly. Roll on 1984 and BIG BROTHER will watch YOU

« on: 25 October 2008, 00:14:56 »
Very nice thread. believe it or not I'm in the process of trying to build a car out of my old v6 estate. I won't call it a kit which is a collection of parts you assemble. I've built a chassis section to take the rear subframe although heavy still lighter than the original body, presently building the front end decided to make new wish bones to carry the original upright ( excellent braking system why waste it). steering is the next project. The idea is to build a low cost safe car to have a bit of fun on a few tracks. Basic chassis, roll cage, minimal body work may not be the lightest but considering the omega can go well enough went you want it to get rid of the barge effect it should go better.

The aldi compressor is actually made by wolf tools you can buy the same model off their web site or advertised in some magazines i think it's probably the best value for money, 2.5hp motor, 25 ltr tank twin outlets about 8cfm wife bought me a wolf version for christmas its done every thing I,ve wanted it to including impact sockets, and is still portable enough unlike the 50ltr units. :y

Yet another way to rip off the motorist. I was under the assuption that you did not need a licence as long as you were entitled to hold a licence for the vehicle you were driving, as stated on my original licence. having paid for my original provisional then again to have first my motor cycle entitlement then again for my car which we were told would last till the day before our 70th birthday then conned again for a photo licence which supposedly would be stronger and last better but is useless without the paper counter foil. I knew it had to be replaced to have the photo upgraded but I assumed this was not at our expense. silly me
