It vaguely hooks into the wing.

When you say lower bolt isn't there... Do you mean that you cannot find it or that it is missing :-\

It left the factory with three bolts...

You have removed the trim?

One plastic rivet to the radiator end of the headlight, then swing it out towards the wing... Tight fit, but easy enough.

the plastic trim under the headlight hooks in.then theres a piece of rubber around the light but no screwhole behind it on bottom nor has there ever been one by the look of it.this is the same on passenger side and drivers side.it was ex plod but i dont think this may have made any difference?.there was a plastic pin at side as well. it levers out but is still fastened behind curv where indicator is?!

You can actually feel the bolt from under the bumper if you stretch your arm up towards the headlight .
Its a 8mm machine screw and fits into the bottom bracket as shown in picture. If you don't feel able or comfortable undoing it by feel from under the bumper you will need a 1/4 drive long extension with an 8mm socket.Squash some bluetack or thick grease into socket head when refitting bolt as you want to keep bolt inside socket to guide it back into hole..it will become quite obvious when you have dropped the bolt several times . ;D

Coarse thread like a screw, but mine have an 8mm head so I use an 8mm deep socket on a 1/4 long extension tucked under the headlight guided in with a torch beam

Likewise, without the torch ;)
