General Car Chat / Difficult car decision.....
« on: 18 May 2010, 20:35:04 »
Just had the renewal through for my insurance and it's ridiculously expensive due to my postcode >:(.

Thinking of selling the Omega  :'(and going down the classic route as I can insure some nice stuff for peanuts i.e less than £100 fully comprehensive despite the postcode as I don't cover many miles these days.

Been offered a grand or so for the LPG miggy( would prefer a bit more though) so could get another Mercedes 190e or maybe an older 5 series.

I'm not going to rush into anything but would welcome suggestions of other motors for up to £2000 that would qualify for the classic jobbie!

Only other option would be to insure it at my dad's address but I am a legit person in that way.

Im 35 with 12 years NCB btw which is a real sickener!

General Car Chat / Nitrous Omega?
« on: 26 July 2009, 21:57:56 »
Anyone ever tried to Nitrous their Omega?

Seeing as Ex Plods are so cheap and there is virtually no room for a turbo/Supercharger, plus they are almost disposable, how would a 3.0 V6 cope with a shot or two of giggle gas?

Anyone up for making a bargain lunatic Miggy with 350 BHP?

Brother picked his gunmatal silver one up today and it's an absolute beast, running about 485bhp and 0-60 in 3.5 seconds  :o .

He is a jammy b*stard but it's killing him as he can only use half throttle for the first 1200 miles will he let me drive it? will he shite!

General Car Chat / Battery luck
« on: 09 March 2010, 13:27:14 »
Got the mig aout 2 years ago and had to buy a new battery on day 1, anyhows it's been playing up lately so thought here goes another 70 quid.

Lo and behold I fished out the receipt and found it was guaranteed for 2 years and it ran out in two weeks. Popped down the factors after a jump start and he happily gives me a better one without a whimper. ;) ;) happy days!!!

General Car Chat / apologies....Fiesta
« on: 01 September 2009, 20:59:23 »
The missus Fiesta has a problem with it's power steering it's started going really heavy but it's showing no signs of a leak at all. 2004 1.25 engine that's only done 30,000 miles FFS.

Anyone ever come across this or know how to test if it's the rack or the pump?

Again very sorry but credit crunch dictates 'I repair this one myself, not sure my credibility will stand joining the Fiesta owners club either! ;D

General Car Chat / What to pay for parts car
« on: 22 August 2009, 13:40:17 »
Rang round a few scrappies this week looking for the elusive z147 facelift rear bumper, by chance a guy who was just passing the office overheard and has a w reg 2.5 in z147 in his garden, apparently has a misfire that he can't be bothered to fix and will sell me the bumper.

Thing is I could do with a couple of doors and a cat so might make an offer on the whole thing, how much would you pay ?

General Car Chat / Irmscher box
« on: 15 August 2009, 15:43:27 »
Been offered an Irmscher backbox for £170 second hand, worth it or not? pretty rare for 3.0 v6 but still a fair wedge.

General Car Chat / Vectra BK/box onto omega
« on: 07 August 2009, 20:23:20 »
Feel free to shoot me down for being stupid but like a lot of people on here I want an Irmscher back box but cant affford a new one and they are rare used.

However there are bloody hundreds of V6 vectra ones on the net for 30-40 quid so my question is!!!

Could a vectra box be adapted by way of the entry pipes of the omega being welded into the back of it, I know the mig has an extra pipe going in but could it be done ??????

Without doubt the sexiest Jag ever built and should my numbers ever come up I will be building a replica!

From what I have found this beauty is rusting away in a lock up somewhere :(
