Got an Omega (from here!)
« on: 01 July 2009, 09:36:51 »

Hello,

Picked up my first Omega last night from djdaveyp85.

Very nice car, very happy, just waiting to hear from my bodyshop man to see if it can/is worth repairing or if I am going to be stripping it. I sincerely hope not, after the drive back last night, I'm in love!

Dave

PS Came with a great omegaowners.com sticker in the back window.  :y

Thanks for the offer, but I am not sure it is going to be worth it. When I was going to look at the car, I thought I would be stripping it as I could do with engine anyway. But after the drive back down, I feel in love with the car. The Omega has really surprised me. Yesterday I had a mate from a bodyshop and my mechanic give a proper look over. From what they have said, it's just not worth repairing.

The list of faults keeps getting bigger.....
Both doors on the nearside (+respray)
Locate 1 door card of the right sort, or a full set that wouldn't look silly
Pillar straightend on a jig
The diff is whining like a good'un
The brakes all need doing (H/brake doesn't hold car, foot brake doesn't engage until 60% press)
Something is vibrating the rear, could be balancing, could be buckled wheel could be something worse
Full bush set, there is knocking, creaking
The central locking doesn't work on all doors

Full up thats a lot of money to spend and on top of the cost of the car, it wouldn't make fiscal sense. (Especially with a recorded Cat C). I am actually gutted.

On a positive note, I think my next car will be an Omega, there is just something about the interior that makes it a nicer place to be over the Vectra, although the fuel economy is no were near as good as the Veccy, which is a little odd.
