Upto around the 4000rpm mark, the engine feels very down on power, then as soon as you hit 4000, its like its getting a swift kick up its arse and just launches itself!

any ideas??  It's making driving a bit of a chore lately, as the autobox just doesn't shift like it used to due to the lack of power...

Multirams smooth out power delivery upto about 4 - 4.5 k revs.  Sound slike a vac leak or similar...

Absolutely....also have someone plip the throttle and check both multi rams...back moves about 4k...

Outwith this check all the connections from both multi rams and to the vac tank are secure untangled and not damaged...

How is idle ?

Not as smooth as it used to be once warmed up, it fluctuates a little...

The rear one (from where I can see and feel) is doing bugger all...

Checked the vac lines, but damned if I know where they should be routed to...

I can't see or hear any vac leaks.

Okay fluctuating idle - worth a full breather clean for starters......check plug wells and lead condition whilst your at it. It may or may not fix the idle and in turn help smoothness, but its certainly not going to do any harm.

Back multi is best seen from passenger side whilst someone revs the car and its like a little switch that will move "on and off" as it hits 4 - 4.5k

I'll re plumb the system again tomorrow, but from what I can tell it all seems fine & proper... So wondering could it be the solenoid valve on the rear which turns the rear ram on & off??

Breathers are ok.  They were fully flushed out about 2k miles ago, and the car has only done long journeys & never gummed up (check oil every journey)  Also wipped a breather off earlier to check and it was fine inside

How do you get yours reving up to 4k?  I've had mine for a month and LOVE it, but it changes up at around 3 and I'm doing 55-60 at under 2k - when I overtake on a dual carrageway it just majestically powers up to illegal speeds, but I've never gone over 3k. (and when your last car was a fiat brava, beleive me that majestic is the right word)  

This means 1) I'm a wimp driver or 2) err.. can't think of a 2..  
does everyone run theirs in sports mode?

p.s. my wife now rolls her eyes whenever I keep mentioning how wonderful the car is

If you floor the throttle it should go close to red line even if its not in sport mode.

If it doesn't check the following:

1) There is no carpet mat below the throttle pedal.
2) There is no slack in the throttle cable, this is adjustable at the thottle end of the cable in the engine bay.
