Omega General Help / TD Viscous fan/thoermostat
« on: 22 December 2009, 16:53:53 »
Having just read this thread: http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1260782552, I am a little puzzled. Is it suggested that with the viscous fan removed, it is necessary to replace/change the thermostat? (for an upgraded one?) :-?

Thanks

Chris

Omega General Help / AR35 Box
« on: 18 December 2009, 17:56:50 »
Now that I have sourced an AR35 box for my chipped td, as it is fairly high mileage, 150k, I would like the box checked over/overhauled before fitting. I have read the posts ref TC and bellhousing swap.

Any recommendations as to how much to do, rough cost, and anyone who can be recommended to do the work? Preferably in my area. The box is off, so unable to drive it to check. It is reported in GWO by owner.

Happy Crimbo everyone :y

Omega General Help / AR25 gearbox on chipped 2.5TD
« on: 07 December 2009, 18:37:40 »
Having now established that I am on thin ice with now nearly 24k, out of 94K total, on a chipped tractor with an AR25, is it recommended to carry out an oil (and filter?) change on the gearbox?

Thanks

Omega General Help / AR35 gearbox.
« on: 11 December 2009, 17:27:15 »
As I am now on tenterhooks anticipating my AR25 box failing, could someone please advise which models have the AR35 box fitted, so that I can start looking for one?
Also, I would welcome several expert opinions as to whether I should change the oil in my current box at 93k. Never changed so far, and last topped up 10k ago.

Thanks in anticipation of some interesting replies. 8-)

Omega General Help / AR35 box
« on: 03 December 2009, 16:24:54 »
As I now find that I have an AR25 box fitted and have done 23000 miles in my chipped tractor, I would welcome any recommendations for reliable suppliers of recon boxes, as I would like to fit an AR35 before mine fails.

Cheers

Omega General Help / Front door lock actuator
« on: 28 November 2009, 14:05:25 »
Having read the very helpful posts about this problem, which I now suffer from also on my '99 2.5 CDX, can anyone confirm that the part number 90493702 listed here http://www.allcarspares.co.uk/product.asp?pID=8365&cID=11 as an Astra spare, is identical to the one fitted to Migs? As it is only £11.50 it looks good value.

Thanks

Omega General Help / Service Manuals
« on: 06 June 2009, 13:48:28 »
Does anyone know if any of the Service Manual CD's as offered on e-bay cover the 1999 BMW 2.5td engine? Tried  e-mailing two separate sellers but get no reply. They sell for a bout £4.00 or so, and I guess they are pirate knock-offs of VX originals.

Thanks

Omega General Help / Stripped sump plug thread
« on: 05 January 2008, 19:01:22 »
My 2.5td (BMW engine) has a stripped sump plug thread. (Last serviced by Vauxhall!) It has an M12 x 1.5 plug. Has anyone replaced this with an oversize, and if so which size.

Thanks

Newbie Welcome Area / Happy New Year
« on: 07 January 2008, 19:44:53 »
Just joined, hi everybody. I've had my 1999 2.5td CDX estate from nearly new (6000mls). I think it is a superb car, especially since I had it chipped, and it drives beautifully, and is very comfortable - I'm 6'4". It is the best load lugger I've ever owned, and is at its best on long motorway journeys. I have now done only 80,000mls, it still uses only about a ltr of oil between changes. The only complaint I have with it is the stupid 7,500 oil change requirement, with 10,000 mile service intervals. However as I do most of it myself I adjust intervals as required. I have had no trouble with the vehicle other than a door check mechanism failing, pre-heaters changed, and of course the sump plug thread stripping, a Vauxhall dealers fault. The only other car I ever had as good and reliable as this was a 1959 Beetle, and I expect to keep this for a few more years yet, as I can't see anything as good available.

Cheers
