Currently run two Omega's (1998/99) a S-Type Jag (1999) and the wife's Honda Civic (1997 model).
I do all the servicing myself. The Omega's have lasted well and other than the normal service items the tyres don't last long.
The Jag's off the road at the moment with a few suspension problems. Trying to pluck up the courage to price up (and pay) for the parts.
The Jag costs are very expensive compared to the Omega and they don't do discounts like Vauxhalls with the TC card.
The wife's Honda (bubble shape) has been an excellent buy. Bought it as a one year old and hardly anything has gone wrong other than the normal service items.
At the same time I had the Rover 400 (same shape and year as the Honda Civic).
I was always a Rover/Leyland fan in the past and drove plenty of minis, maestro's, Rover 200's.
However, this was a disaster.
* head gasket went twice
* alternator replaced
* starter motor replaced
* two exchange gearboxes
* two new radiators,
* three new clutches,
* new air con system,
* two sets of shock absorbers all round
* rusty body panels (needed cutting out and weding)
* rusty roof
* and plenty of other issues.
No wonder they went under!! A shame really because it was a nice car to drive when it was running.
