Tyre Pressure Monitoring - Part II

Solved the problem, it's my air compressor gauge that's up the duff.

Always been very reliable, always checked out against a digital and manual gauge - until now.

Reading approx. 5/6 psi low.

T'was OK the previous time I used it to increase the pressures for towing, but faulty when I reset the tyres for normal driving.

Shall check with a manual gauge in future.

At least I know the monitoring system can be relied upon :y

Oh AA. Never trust an airline garage. They're shite.

Get yourself one if those digital jobs. Halfords etc.

Yeah, a buryite wouldn't see that that's a typo and should read "gauge". Well spotted Andy. Well done. ::)

The gauges on airlines tend to fall out of calibration quickly, esp if abused a bit.  I normally use the one on my portable compressor to roughly set pressures to within 2 psi (its slightly overreads, so I know 34 psi and 32 psi are what I'm aiming for on the gauge).

For TBE, because its a highly strung piece of FL junk, I then follow this up with a £2 asda digital gauge that I occasionally check with the Shell garage up the road.

....which us EXACTLY why they should not be trusted.

They get dropped easily and the weight and whip of the hose just adds momentum to the fall. It's soooooo easy to do. Fill with air to x amount above the desired psi then set it accurately with a digital gauge. :y
