« on: 27 May 2014, 19:03:57 »
Hello all
Code reader showed misfire on no2 cylinder. Removed the coil pack and found no2 plug swimming in water. Any ideas what could be causing water to get into the plug well please. Car is 2.6 v6.

Does anyone here have a Bus licence. I am trying to find out if it is actually illegal to drop off passengers at traffic lights when the light is red. Tried to search for an answer but found nothing yet.

Omega General Help / ignition
« on: 24 November 2013, 17:34:50 »
Hello people

Seems I may have done something wrong.
The ignition barrel has been broken for sometime know as it has been popping out along with the key. The ignition barrel shaft actually broke half way down and part of it remained in the solenoid. Today I decided to replace the barrel and had to take the solenoid of the back to remove the broken shaft. Not really sure what I was doing but dismanteled the solenoid to try and remove it. Got the shaft out and went about reassembling the solenoid as part of it fell apart. Now the problem is that the key works and turns the starter motor but will not even try firing up. Could this be down to the solenoid being incorrectly assembled and if so has anyone got any pictures of how it should be assembled.
The car is a 2001 2.6 CDX Omega

General Car Chat / Vauxhall Meriva question
« on: 20 August 2013, 20:20:28 »
Hello everyone

I was wondering if anyone is able to give me some advice regarding a problem my wife is having with her Meriva. The car is a 1.7 CDTI 2008 and all the electric windows have stopped working, going neither up or down. The information display is not showing any info but does when the radio is on. Checked the fuses and came to a conclusion that they are ok due to the fact that each window works on a separate fuse and pulled one out and it seemed fine. not to sure what to look for next. Any suggestions welcome.

The other week I took my Omega to Kwik Fit to be re-gassed. I know what you are all thinking, plonker taking his car to Kwik fit, but they are only up the road from me and for convenience it seemed reasonable, after all what could go wrong!!! Well after having the car for an hour they called and said they can not re-gas it as there is a leak from the valve on the front pipe and as it was all part of the pipe the whole thing would need to be replaced which would mean the front bumper coming off >:( . Vauxhall part £180.00 +fitting and re-gas. Probably looking at around £300.00 or thereabouts. Looking on this wonderful site I found that you could order the part from Vauxhall for around £5.00 and it could be changed over. Took it to a local garage who I have used previously who fitted the valve (took only 5mins) and charged me only for the re-gas of £48.00. Thanks once again to all of you on this site who replied to my query andhave helped me save money on my Omega.. Kwik fit will never be visited by me again.

Omega General Help / Air con problem
« on: 16 July 2013, 14:57:50 »
Hello everyone

Last Friday I went to Kwik Fit to have my air conditioning re-gassed. They confirmed that it was low on gas and hooked up their machine to extract the old gas and replace it. After about half an hour they said there is a problem. The lower pipe valve is leaking and they are unable to top up. Fair enough I thought, just need to replace the valve. They informed me that unlike the top pipe, the bottom pipe has the valve incorporated within the pipe and would need to be completely replaced. Is this correct? Got a price from Vauxhall for £180.00 for the pipe alone  :'(. The car is an Omega 2.6 2001 facelift.

Omega General Help / Key barrel
« on: 06 March 2013, 08:28:37 »
Hello everyone

The ignition retaining clip on the key barrel on the Omega has broken off, meaning each time I remove the key the barrel comes out also. I am unable to find my key code to enable me to purchase one with the correct combination from Vauxhall but I do believe that you can order a barrel and key which will work, just means you have different keys for the car, one to open it the other to start it.
The question is will the other key for the ignition need to be programmed or will it as they say "work straight from the box". Not fussed about having two seperate keys especially as Vaux World sell them for £17.00 compared to Vauxhall charging £77.00.

Omega General Help / Temp problem
« on: 16 September 2012, 11:14:04 »
Hello all

I was wondering if someone may give me some advice please. On a recent trip in the Omega i started losing alot of coolant and had to keep topping it up. On investigation when i got home the plate covering the oil cooler had a big hole in it. Replaced the plate and sealed it all up,then topped.up the coolant, put the heater on max and after awhile topped it up to its correct level. Took the car for a test drive and found the temp gauge not going up. When i stopped at som traffic lights the temp gauge all of a sudden went up to 100 with the red warning light coming on. Once started off again the gauge dropped down to 0,nothing inbetween. Checked the level of the coolant once home and although it was abit low it was nothing drastic. Topped it up again and started the car, let it warm up but the gauge still reads 0. Have i got an airlock in the system which may be causing the gauge to give incorrect readings or is there another problem somewhere. No coolant is leaking out. The car is the V6 2.6 Omega.

Thanks

Omega General Help / Oil cooler
« on: 25 August 2012, 15:36:33 »
Hello people

Trying to remove oil cooler between the cylinder banks underneath the intakes. The problem is there is not enough clearance to remove it because the oil feed and return pipes.are in the way. How do you remove the pipes from above the oil filter housing as it is very limited access.

Cheers
