Omega General Help / Just not sure if it's a problem
« on: 10 April 2012, 13:53:54 »
Having not driven the Omega for 6 months,  I really can't remember if this is common on starting an Omega. The problem is when the key is put in the ignition and is turned on all the lights come on the display which is correct. Then when i turn it further to actually start the car there is a considerable pause of about two seconds then the car fires up normally. It seems like the car actually thinks about it. Anyone else had this happen to them or is it normal?

Omega General Help / Headlight adjustment
« on: 19 March 2012, 14:51:39 »
Having had my Omega fail its MOT last saturday on the nearside beam to low, I have been searching on this site as to how to adjust it. From what I have seen so far is that you have two screws at the top of the headlamp, but which screw makes the beam higher? Has anyone adjusted theirs who could pass this info on to me.

General Discussion Area / Resturants near Heathrow
« on: 06 February 2012, 17:43:46 »
Working at Heathrow for the next couple of weeks and finding it difficult to find a good quality resturant around the area thats not Indian. Went to Staines last week but they seem to be full of chain resturants which can get boring after awhile. Any suggestions from people living nearby or who may have visited this neck of the woods recently.

General Car Chat / Bye Bye SAAB

Sad to see it go as a car company. I thought they made some decent cars before GM took them over. Had a 9000 myself and was even more comfortable than the Omega.

General Discussion Area / Home entertainment system
« on: 09 January 2012, 09:43:37 »
Having had the same old Tv for 12years now we have decided to upgrade. We are going to get an LG 3D tv but the problem is the surround sound system and harddrive recorder. Asking in Currys it seems to get a surround sound with blu ray player, you have to buy a hard drive recorder seperately which also comes with a dvd player thus doubling up on two items. Does anyone do a blu ray, dvd, hdd and surround system in one package. Maybe someone on here knows a system that may work as my knowledge of entertainment systems ended when I last bought my old tv.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Brake light check display
« on: 20 May 2010, 16:26:05 »
When i start the car i have the usual brakelight check come on till i push the brake pedal and it goes away as normal. But recently i had an actual brakelight fail on me and i replaced them both with Vauxhall ones as i have had a problem with Halfuds in the past and the brake lights all work fine. However i am now getting the brakelight failure lamp with check coming on all the time after i have pressed the brake pedal indicating a fault. Do the codes that are stored in the ECU have to be cleared to have the fault removed

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Alarm
« on: 20 May 2010, 16:05:45 »
Hello everyone
I believe there is someone on this site who can repair the remote keyfob that unlocks the door and also de activates the alarm. Can i have their name please.
Also is it possible, as the book is rubbish at explaining, if it is possible to deactivate the alarm from inside the car. I know it is possible to deactivate against movement but this does not deactivate it when the door is opened and since the keyfobs are not working the alarm goes off every time i enter the car. Before anyone asks, no it is not the battery in the keyfobs that has gone as i have tried that.
Thanks for your help

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Rubbish reception from radio
« on: 24 June 2008, 22:09:07 »
Hello all ;).I have an omega estate and since i have owned it i have had awful reception from the radio :(.The only stations it seems to pick up well on a short journey are the BBC stations no local ones. Checked the connection near the kickplate and that was fine so purchased a second hand one and it is the same as old >:(. The only thing now i can think off is it must be the connection going into the aerial itself on the roof.  Since it is roof mounted it looks like it entails removing the headliner. Has anyone actually removed the rear headliner to get access to the aerial and how difficult is it. I now find myself with 2 radios so is anyone looking for one to go into a facelift dash.
Thanks for your help ;)

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Engine managment light
« on: 04 March 2008, 20:41:58 »
Ok i have had this light coming on for about two months now and i am completely baffled.I have checked it with a handheld diagnostic with no faults coming up so have reset it a couple of times. The light then stays off for about two hours then comes on again. After getting slightly pissed off with it i decided to book it into a garage which has all the right equipment to diagnose the fault. They found an air leak in one of the pipes and replaced it then reset it. About two hours later the light came on again  >:(.Booked it in again and they found another pipe needing replacment so changed it and reset the fault again. Two hours later hey presto light came back on :'(. Booked it back in with the garage, they had it for a whole day rigging it up to a variety of diagnostics and couldn,t find a fault so ended up giving me my money back. Has anyone got any idea why this bloody light keeps coming on. The car runs lovely and seems unaffected. It is a 2001  2.6 estate

Thanks
