That's a very sturdy, subtle bit of kit - our Chihuahua might just squeeze round the side of it ???
Thanks for the reply, you may be right. I will see if the seller can measure it.... I've never seen a metal dog guard for an Omega?! :-[
I wouldn't think it'd be wide enough to fit an Omega  :-\  :-\  :-\

Think most were Custom Jobs, have a look here -

I did something similar about 2 weeks ago  :D - found a tin of 'Holts' undershield which had been sat around for about 30 years (or so!) and using a stiff  brush painted on the underside of my wife's Micra. The stuff was still as new. I just cannot throw anything away!  :y
Hi guys.

I just been to the pub with me old man and we got talking about maintenance items that he used to do as a young man that are not done anymore.

He mentioned that he took his car once (a Hillman Avenger he tells me) to his mate who painted a thick tar-like substance on to the underside of his car to protect it. He couldn't remember the name of this stuff.... anyone any idea out of interest what they would have used back in the day? :)

There is a metal dog guard for sale on ebay right now, the item no is 151159394089
It states Vauxhall Zafira - can anyone take a peek at it and let me know if it will fit my '02 estate please?

Thanks for the advice...much appreciated. I will have another go tomorrow.

How do I know if it's limp mode? Limp mode I imagine is how it drives when the light is on but the rev counter does not drop to zero.
I removed the egr this afternoon - cleaned it and it seemed OK  (I'm assuming that if it goes in and out that is OK) and
I also checked the vac pipes for splits or lose connections. Is it necessary to actually remove the connectors to see if they're sound?....
Crank sensor failure on a DTi will mean your rev counter drops to zero and the car goes into limp mode.

Have you whipped the EGR off and tested and cleaned it? Only two bolts and a vac pipe to remove.

Also worth checking the big rubber elbow that connects the primary vac line to the vac pump on the back of the head.

Hey ho - I have to solve it - it's gotta be fixed..... I have not signed up to this throwaway society just yet!
I was just reading a post of yours about the crank sensor - is that a possibility?

353
OK, I will clean it out tomorrow, thanks for the reply.
It happens most frequently on idle. If I turn the ignition off, wait a few seconds, start her up and it clears - then
next junction I stop and it comes on again and no power. Is that fuel pump?

Hi all, I am fishing around in the dark really trying to solve an eml light and loss of power problem ('02 2.2dti CDX est.)
The car has only now done 71k from new. As stated in previous post, I have removed the maf sensor and properly cleaned it, I have checked all the vacuum pipes for splits or bad connections, new air filter. I am located North Essex, any suggestions where I should take it for the fault codes, avoiding main dealers? What should I look at next? Thank you.

Hi all, the shine on my lovely omega estate is starting to dull!
I have read a lot on here about the eml coming on and hence a loss of power and also about the maf sensor. I have been driving my car like this for months now....the eml comes on at tick over and at around 65-70 and unless its my imagination (which it isn't), going up slight gradients! I am looking at the maf sensor now - I have removed it and am cleaning it meticulously with iso alcohol. The air filter box will be cleaned and I have a new filter. My first question is: when I removed the maf sensor I disconnected it from the pipe which leads into the turbo charger. This pipe had a bit of oil settled in it, is that right/normal? Question 2: I know I should get the tech 2 gadget to read my code when the light is on...is there anybody in the Suffolk/Essex region who has one please? Thank you.  :)

Thank you for the reply. You're right, the picture is too small - in order to be sure, I will have another go at uploading a bigger picture when I have time. Thanks again.

It looks like a relay is missing from my lovely Omega - what is the missing relay for?...anything to do with the puddle jumpers, as mine are not working? I have tried to upload picture below - hope it has worked.

The two passenger side doors are ignoring me! Where should I start to investigate this problem? Is there a way the c/locking can be reset? Any advice greatly appreciated...thanks.
