Can anyone recommend one that actually seems to work? Astra is getting a bit lumpy on startup, clears after a minute or so, but will obviously get worse.

Asda has Redex fuel system cleaner on offer at the moment for £3 if that’s any good. (Worth a try)
Failing that Kent industries does an excellent product but is very expensive in comparison.

Starts fine, definitely injectors, I think. Five years old. So......can you recommend one that actually works? ::)

I could potentially argue that some of the (decent) petrol ones might have a slightly-more-than-placebo effect on 120k mile engines.
I could also say that diesel redex seems to make the battlebus seem a bit more spritely, but unsure if that's the system being cleaned, or just that redex might burn well - I tend to shove in a whole bottle at a time every few tankfuls (the other tankfuls get 2 stroke shoved in)
So, I agree with Nick W. No.

I've ordered a couple of bottles of good, old fashioned STP. Probably won't do much, but for £10 I'll give it a go.

My old Beemer used get a bit lumpy now and again on idle and half a bottle of Redex always seemed to sort it for a while. :y

It’s what I use with my lpg cars and it does seem to help with vsr.

I've soaked a petrol injector in neat stp and operated it by applying voltage ,it did get visible crud out .
diluted in a tank full of fuel I think it would struggle
I put 1 bottle of double concentrate in 1/4 of a tank
but that is petrol,
there are seals in the High pressure diesel pump etc which may be effected by strong mixes :-\
I've done the same dose on the Zafira A 2.0 DTi Y20DTH and that's going 20k later ,emissions where low at MOT

Wait until it's nearly empty, fill with proper diesel, from shell,use the optimax one, and Chuck two bottles of injecton cleaner in, and then drive it, like you did when you might have gone twoc'ing in the home town.
