The gauge is marked differently on Facelifts. Where a pre facelift is marked at 90, facelift says 80. Don't know if the actual temperature is any different. Dash gauges are hardly accurate, but the position of the pointer on the scale remains about the same.

Sounds nice :y

Mine sits around 80/85 most of the time, up to just over 90 where the fans start, so keep an eye on it for a while before you rush out and change the 'stat. It may well be normal.

Depends if you fancy a change or are happy with your car. The faults you list on your car are all fairly superficial. As long as it isn't generally "worn out" I'm sure it'll plod along for a while yet. On the other hand, if you decide a year down the line to change, there won't be as many nice Omegas about.  :-/

one other thing....  what's involved in fitting a towbar??

Pretty straightforward. Was on my saloon anyway. Holes are pre-drilled in the bodyshell with a thin sheet of steel covering them so half a dozen holes to drill through them, protect it all from rust and bolt on, then a few electricals to sort out. Did mine in half a day.

Glad the new car panned out well, and that the issue with the old one has surfaced at last.  :y

There was a load net in the "parts for sale" section not long ago. Probably a page or two down by now.

Carburetor? What is that?  :o

In this case, It'd be a device a bit like a watering can rose suspended above the engine and connected to the fuel pump.  ;D

Ow no, a 4 barrel weber or holley is much more sophisticated than that......it has the ability to vary the ouput of the watering can rose......

Ahh, if you want it to vary you've got to find someone who can do voodoo with jets and emulsion tubes and things. It's becoming increasingly difficult. :'(

8.5:1 compression?  ;D

Ready for some forced induction then...

I don't think it's worth hauling that much iron around for 260 BHP.

Did you know, they can fix 99.8% of breakdowns at the side of the road?

That was what my mate got told when he specifically asked for a recovery truck.

The call centre droid was adamant that he didn't need a recovery truck.

He then proceeded to list the engine parts that he could see lying on Maidenhead high street, underneath the sump, in a puddle of oil. It wasn't pretty. Included bits of bearing, bits of bearing cap, bits of piston, bits of sump, etc...

Eventually he must have been put through to someone who knew that these bits weren't going to go back together  ;D

I've heard variable reports about Heathrow engines. Can't remember the details but someone was not too happy with them. :-/

My take on it is that few people can build an engine as well as the original manufacturer, and given that V6's rarely fail, I'd rather have one out of a scrapper for a couple of hundred quid than take a chance on a re-cond one.

BTW: Not really into driving games myself but a lot of guys I know are getting seriously into RFactor.

(this includes track junkies desperate to get a fix during the winter season - so it must be good)

Merc/Audi/BMW baiting at Nottingham Knight and Wheatcrofts roundabout on the A52.

Ow, you were talking about console games!

There is nothing so satisfying as baiting someone when you are towing.

Escpecially when it's a glider trailer nearly 30' long!

Admittedly I had a 5 MPH rolling start, and he should have been paying more attention to the lights. By the time he'd realised what was happening there was no way to claw back his dignity.  ;D

I always make a meal out of speed bumps in the Westfield. Plenty of blipping the throttle on the downshifts and pops and bangs on the overrun as I slow down for them. ;D

Hopefully the local residents will realise how much more intrusive it makes the traffic as opposed to when just cruising past at a constant speed and lobby for their removal.

Speed bumps are counter productive IMHO. They may cause a driver to slow down but they focus his mind on the road 30 feet in front of the car to the exclusion of everything else.

They put speed bumps on a bit of road I use to get to work. Now, this road is rather well to do but unfortunately has become one of the main arteries into a town. Lots of influential residents, I'd imagine, who don't like the level of traffic. It's a 30 limit but a long straight road and it's easy to let your speed creep up.

They've tried speed bumps, then ripped them up. Then they tried chicanes, but approaching drivers used to accelerate to get round before the guy coming the other way. 2 Guys decide to try the same trick and there's a head-on. So, they've now ripped them up.

Meanwhile the surface is shocking, it's all you can do to keep the car in a straight line. They've spent hundreds of thousands of pounds experimenting with schemes that don't work and now, seemingly, there's nothing left in the coffers to ensure that it at least has a safe surface. >:(
