Stick your key in your ear.
« on: 04 August 2006, 07:48:18 »

Well, I've just returned from another few weeks away.  House hunting this time.
Last time, I returned to find the inauguration of this fine site.
This time, I see there are a few interseting threads to get stuck into.

LB.  Congrats on your latest purchase.  Looks very nice!

Back to the subject above.  If you're having trouble with the range of your 'plipper', touch the key to your head (yes really) or stick it in your ear.  You should find you've gained a few extra useful feet of range.

NOW ALL TRY IT and report back!

I'm off to catch up on the three weeks I missed here.

LOL.  ;D

Yup, i would concur.

I find pointing the key upward while touching my chin works equally well. Sometimes i can gain as much as 20 feet! [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

Just as well these things don't output as much power as phones!! Our brains would surely be fried!

Then we'd be crazy.  :o

I suspect that they specificaly detune the aerial in the remote to limit the range and reduce the chance of the signal being scanned. Placing it against your head uses your scull as a tuning cavity and hence improves the range.

The bigger the head, the better the range ;D

Or the emptier the head (for better cavity), the better the range?

You can hardly call it a cavity when it's full of bullsh*it! ;D

Ahh bless, he is rather entertaining though but lets not get started on another TG thread ::)

Funny piece on TG with Clarkson and the Hammy demonstrating the various poses for plipping.
